This hotel has a great location and has been receently renovated. Love the new rooms. Will definately be back again.

I would not recommend staying at this HIE, to anyone.
Parking was an issue, as several vehicles had taken more than one space. When I raised the issue with the receptionist, he just shrugged his shoulders.
I was then given a front room, facing the 8 Freeway. As the Windows are not Double or Triple Glazed, the room was very noisy, hence I did not get a good nights sleep.
The next morning in daylight, I noticed the room was worn and slightly dirty, giving me the impression the hotel was not look after.

I stay at a lot of Holiday Inns . I expected this one to be the same high standard of quality I am used to. I was disappointed. Even though the Inn is under massive renovation this is not reflected in this review.
The staff were nice . The house keeping was excellent. The room was perfect. Breakfast was perfect. Breakfast staff were a delight.
So the faults.
1. TV did not work in Fitness suite
2. No towels in Fitness suite over the 6 days I was there. I just brought my own towels from room after the first day.
3. TV did not work for news in breakfast area.. No channels available
4. Not recognized as platinum reward member or offered OR received the 500 bonus points during check in. I even wrote to manager afterwards and never got a reply.
5. Front desk staff did not seem interested in Customers needs. They never seemed to be at the front desk.
6. Lack of leadership is evident.
I stayed at Old town Holiday inn afterwards and the difference was noticeable.
The hotel itself in in a great area and is actually very nice. But they need to pay attention to the small details like other locations. The staff need to be told that customers are their business and livlyhood and they need to pay more attention
I would stay here again to see if there was a difference after all the renovations are complete.

My room overlooked the I-8 highway, which was incredibly loud considering the patio sliding door didn't fully seal. Who builds a patio overlooking a highway?!?! Also, there were no local, network, or popular TV channels available. The front desk said that they'd "recently changed packages" but what DirecTV package doesn't include CBS/NBC/ABC/CNN/TWC/ESPN/etc? I basically had the choice to either watch infomercials or listen to the traffic noise. Would not stay here again.

We chose this hotel because of location to the conference we were attending as well as the price. Hotels in the "hotel district" off I-8 tend to overcharge for parking with no breakfast = bad value. This Holiday Inn was a bit dated and they were in the midst of a remodel but it wasn't a problem for us. We also took several walks in the neighborhood which appeared to be very safe as well as across the Interstate via a walking bridge and up to Mt. Helix Park - the view was amazing! 360 degrees of the San Diego area - great uphill walk and downhill coming back which helps :-) We love San Diego for all the usual reasons - sun, surf, excellent food - plus the fast traffic - ha.

They need to up-date the windows so you don't have to hear the traffic noise. But I would stay there again not a bad place.

We visit El Cajon regularly and almost always stay at this hotel. I find the staff extremely friendly and accommodating which allows for the small things that happen at any hotel to not matter. The Hotel is undergoing renovation and the new look is great. They do need to get some work done on bathroom caulking and such but I am a perfectionist so this is no big deal.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation, great value subsidized by great staff.
