Staff wonderful, location excellent but a working lift is vital in this hotel given it's design and it has been out of action for way too long.
The choice of food at breakfast was limited and providing sausages but not bacon seems perverse. For me the lack of boiling water at breakfast was the greatest omission. To make tea you need boiling, not warm water and the drinks machines simply do not provide water hot enough to make decent tea. It would also be better to provide pots in which to make the tea.
If you are training for a marathon or a fitness devotee and you drink coffee, this hotel will be perfect. For the rest of us, a working lift and a few improvements at breakfast would make this hotel as good as the staff and location deserve.

The lifts were out, the breakfast was terrible, no outlets near enough to the bed to plug in my smartphone which I use as a wakeup alarm, quick checkout did not work either via video/television or by phone. No dinner served (I was told its because there are many local restaurants which is true plus Tesco next door). Too bad as it is in a great location on Gunwharf Quays, with a little investment and attention to these things the place could be booming with tourist trade.

Good location, and very nice staff, but now looking a bit tired. Inadequate storage in the room. No lifts working and had not been for sometime we were told.

All the staff were friendly and helpful.We were offered help with luggage as the lift was out of action still.

A centrally situated hotel for Gunwharf Quays however there are no guest lifts in operation at this hotel which is very inconvenient. The Hotel Staff were very helpful and accommodating and assisted with our luggage and booked us into a room on the first floor. The Hotel rooms and corridors could do with some much needed TLC and hopefully the Lifts will be repaired and working very soon. Would stay again though simply for the friendliness of the staff and the area.

Neither my wife nor myself slept well on the bed. It reacted to movement like a water bed which it wasn't. Breakfast was reasonable we have had better in other Holiday Inns. I hope our next stay in Swindon is better.
Portsmouth is in a very good location for sight seeing and shopping.
No lifts working at the time of our visit however we were offered a room on the lowest floor but did not accept the offer.
