The more famous Carnegie Hall might be in New York City, but Dunfermline has one as well. Located in Dunfermline's town centre, 10 minutes from the hotel, the art deco Carnegie Hall offers music, drama, comedy, dance and children’s programmes. If you're hungry before the show, you can grab a bite at Tiffany's, its on-site bistro, which has spectacular views of the nearby Firth of Forth.

Dunfermline Abbey, just 10 minutes away by car, is likely to awe and inspire you. This 1,000-year-old church was founded as a Benedictine abbey, and played a key role in Scotland's history and faith. It’s considered a masterpiece of Norman architecture and contains the tombs of Queen Margaret, King Robert the Bruce and numerous other Scottish royals.

Industrial magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie is arguably Dunfermline's most famous native son, and the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum puts you in his shoes. Carnegie gave away more than $350 million to schools and cultural institutions, and this museum has a decidedly educational bent. Interactive games, demonstrations and other exhibits are sure to delight and enlighten you.

While Dunfermline was the seat of the Scottish throne during medieval times, bustling Edinburgh is Scotland's current capital. The city is around 30 minutes away from the hotel by car or 40 minutes by train. You can wander for hours through the winding, cobbled streets of Edinburgh's Old Town and marvel at Georgian architecture in its New Town, which, despite its name, dates to the 18th century.
