The building itself is in good repair and is in the old downtown hotel mode. The biggest problem is the fact that there is very little on site parking, no covered area from which to enter the hotel, and a maze-like entrance from the parking lot(if you are lucky enough to be one of the first 30 cars and find a spot) to the hotel. We arrived in the pouring rain and my husband had to go out twice in the rain and gather the rest of our belongings and then move the car to park on the street. There is a fence between the parking lot and the hotel and you have to backtrack to the end of the fence to even reach the entrance to the hotel. Using a cart to bring in luggage is not a great process due to the length of the ramp which runs in the opposite direction of the entrance from the parking lot(we just lugged it all in to keep from getting wetter). We have stayed at the HIE near the Stadiums many times while my husband received medical care at Johns Hopkins Hospital. That facility meets all of the needs that his site does not, but alas is right next door to the new Casino and is usually sold out when we need a room.

The best part of my stay, aside from the great room, was the front desk staff. Everytime I walked by they greeted me and were friendly.
