Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Twice in a Week... I always stay at this hotel when I'm in Northern Kentucky on business. I had always had a very good experience until last week. I booked a room on 4/07/15 and arrived, I instantly knew there was something wrong. The guy at the desk was nice enough, but started off by telling me that management had changed & any issues from the past were now fixed. He didn't recognize me as a Gold Member of IHG and didn't offer me points or the water & snack. I got to my room and sat down at he desk to do some work. The wifi wouldn't connect, I called the desk and he said, try again... so I did and it wouldn't connect. I went down to the desk and his story changed, apparently they were having issues with it and had been for some time... I had to be able to connect, so I checked out and went across the street. Overall Bad Experience, not sure what is going on, but I hope the new management does better in the future. April 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel ran out of TP! This hotel ran out of toilet paper! I called the front desk to request more and was told they'd bring it up. Nothing appeared. I called back and was told they'd run out. I thought he was kidding. I suggested he go buy more and was told he was alone and couldn't leave. I suggested checking an empty room and was told they were booked. I suggested calling the staff coming in next. I offered solutions, but received only apologies. Unacceptable! After an hour, he produced a partial roll which was gone by morning. The hotel is supposed to be smoke-free, but the halls smelled of smoke and air freshener. The heat didn't work. They had no pancake mix throughout our stay. Guests had glass bottles in the pool area- unsafe and against the rules, but not the hotel's fault. Nice clientele. Unbelievable experience! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Favorite Cincinnati Area Hotel We stay here often when we plan on being in town for a weekend for Reds games. We have always had great experiences. The last visit the woman that checked us in was so nice and went above and beyond to help us with a mix up with the room. The staff is always super friendly and its easy to catch the shuttle to the different places for $1 each way. I recommend this hotel to anyone thats looking to stay in the area. April 10, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Internet Access is ALWAYS down Hotel is average, but not as good as what I have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express. The breakfast was pretty good, with the normal selections. The front desk staff are not very attentive, and rarely smile or say hello. Most of the time we had to wait for them to come up, as they were in the back. As I saw in other reviews, the internet/WiFi access was down the entire 5 days I was there. They kept saying that the technician is working on it. I don't think they even have internet access at the hotel. The 3rd floor smells like cigarette smoke. My room was very smelly and I had to purchase an air freshener so it didn't smell so bad. Easy access location to the river area. Not a bad hotel, they just need to get WiFi, fix the 3rd floor smell and get friendlier staff. April 9, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Needs Help This hotel is one of the worst Holiday Inn Express' that I have ever stayed in. The entire hotel smelled like smoke. When I arrived the front desk clerk was standing right outside the doors smoking while the doors were wide open. That made the lobby smell terrible. The first morning I went down for breakfast at 8:15 and almost all of the food was gone and no one was there re stocking. The entire duration of my stay the internet was down, and the staff was less than friendly on giving an explanation about what was going on. My room was fairly clean, but can tell they do not spend much time on cleaning. I had broken tiles in my bathroom, the drain to my shower was broke off and sitting on the side of the tub. Neither my sink or the shower drained real well leaving standing water in both the shower and sink. I will not stay at this property ever again and would appreciate some feed back from their management staff. Next time I am in the Cincinnati area I will be finding a new property to stay at. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by spring break We took our 3 young grandsons to the hotel for spring break to visit the Newport Aquarium and other nearby attractions. We all enjoyed starting the day with the free breakfast and ending the day swimming in the nice, warm pool. Our grandsons did not want to leave the hotel as they kept saying they liked it there! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Never Again I cannot remember a stay at an IHG property that i was this discouraged. Upon pulling up to the property there was big trucks everywhere taking three or more parking spots. Our room smelled of smoke. We could only get one key card because they were out. The breakfast was lacking the normal staples of a Holiday Inn Express. No pancakes or cinnamon rolls. They were out. I am not sure how this happens. I would stay away from this IHG property.
