For a hotel alongside a motorway, the well-designed Holiday Inn Express Burnley is remarkably quiet. The M65 means it's an ideal business location, but it's also a pleasant walk along the adjoining canal to the centre of Burnley, past attractive wharf-side developments to the centre of the town. The surrounding area is rich in heritage and wild landscape, so the hotel makes an ideal base for exploring East Lancashire.
Reception is well-run and efficient and the self-service breakfast offers outstanding range and value. WiFi works well throughout the hotel (and car park) and the facilites are clean and well-maintained - although the TV signal did need attention during our stay.
Unfortunately, the evening meal was disappointing - over-heated, bland and expensive for what it was. Worse, the hotel is far from any other restaurants, so it has a captive audience - which it should make better efforts to entertain...

Pleasantly surprised on finding the hotel. Little bit further down the road from the island than expected and quiet area.
Just enough parking and prompt check-in
Evening meal area and bar was comfy with all that is needed, the food needs careful choice but was prompt and hot.
Room fine, wifi fine and facilities good
Breakfast OK, not special but adequate with piling on the pounds!
Good value and checkout easy

I might not be the best navigator but I drove past the hotel and then back the opposite direction on the motorway and wasted 20 minutes looking for the entrance to the hotel based on the postcode, it was dark and my sat nav is not the best. The room was great but a noise from the heating sounded like someone was trying to use their card in my door, very unnerving. I eventually realised the cause and switched off the heating for a good nights sleep. I always look forward to a lovely cooked breakfast when staying in hotels and B

Next morning at breakfast NO bacon you will have to wate ok when bacon comes out there is NO sausages and to add salt to the wound the scrambled egg was COLD .
NOT a hotel I would recommend to anyone and take my advice drive past on the M65.
