When I was there they were doing some renovations so all of the amenities were not available, but other than that it was nice and clean.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bill400 Chesapeake HIE is an excellent choice
Friendly staff, quiet stay, very clean and new-like throughout. Very comfortable (free upgrade on this stay), excellent breakfast.
I thoroughly enjoy a nice HIE and this is a great example of what I have come to expect.
I shall return.

The stay started off rocky. I accidently selected Saturday to check in when I wasn't getting there until Sunday. They charged my card with no notification for that day and refused to credit the card when I showed up on Sunday. I told them it was an accident/mistake but that didn't matter to them.
I decided to stay anyways at the hotel, since I am military and needed the room for the week. I got a room and went to get my stuff in the room. I wish I would have taken a few pictures. The couch was missing part of the seat backing so really you could not sit on it. The tables where chipped and needing replacement. The Wi-Fi was not the greatest even sitting in the room. If I wasn't staying for the entire week, I may not have noticed some of these however the couch is a glaring eye soar.
The hotel itself I believe may be going through some renovations? I am not sure since I really didn't see anything going on during my stay. I was disappointed that the pool and fitness room where closed and unable to be used. We would have to go to another hotel they had an agreement with to use their facilities if we wanted to use them.
The best part of the stay was the bed. It was comfortable and easy to sleep in. The bathroom was clean and had all amenities needed.
During my stay I decided to ask again if they could help with the charging of Saturday. I was told they would look into it and get back with me. Late that night I got a phone call from the front desk. He stated that they would help me out by crediting my last day of my stay. I was happy to here this since I was only TDY. I ended up finishing my orders a day early, so I checked out on Thursday. I spoke with the front desk on Wed and asked again to make sure I would still get the last day credited. There was no note in my file and the front desk clerk said she had no idea. Needless to say, I did not get my last day credited. I would have hoped they would have understood it was an honest mistake and since I was staying there for the week I could have got that ONE day credited back. I guess this is not in their policy.

Upon opening the door to my room (207), I noted an extremely strong amonia odor. When I went downstairs to get something out of my car, the front desk clerks asked me about my room. I commented about the smell and the two clerks laughed and said that the strong amonia smell should be taken as an indicator that the room had been cleaned. Upon returning, I ventilated the room throughout the night in hopes of combatting the odor and any possible ill effects of inhaling the amonia while I slept all night. In the morning, I noticed a beetle in the middle of the carpet. I mentioned the beetle to the front desk clerk upon check out. He was much more customer service oriented than the two clerks the evening prior and even offered to reduce my bill just because of the beetle. I declined, because that is not why I mentioned the bug. I just figured that if it was my hotel, I would want to know about my guest's experience and the cleanliness of the room.
