Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by overnight visit check-in was easy, quick and well received, staff very friendly, room was clean and nice. mattresses on the beds were of average comfort--not too hard or too soft. continental breakfast was good, although I believe there could have been a better selection. check-out was easy, pleasant and experienced little/no problems. valets are quick to bring your vehicle curbside for you and willing to help load/unload luggage. You can walk to a "People Mover" train that will take you anywhere you need to go downtown and it's not even a block away from the hotel! Staff were excellent and very attentive to my requests. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just like Detroit There is limited space in front of the hotel which means you are stuck out in the street if it's busy. The hotel is almost nice, but if you look closely, it is rough. I was going to have a quick shower right before we had to leave -- the shower handle had come loose and would not turn on. There were stains on the armchair in the room. There is a free shuttle, but it wasn't available. It was close enough to walk to Comerica, Fox, etc. So, not all bad. May 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Express Downtown Detroit sets the standard This hotel is an Oasis of calm in the chaos of a typical downtown core. While the rate is a bit pricey, there is valet parking and the hotel's premium location that helps justify the cost. The CSR at the front desk also take on the role of impromptu Concierge for any questions, and the maintenance team's response time for room issues is lightning fast. Definitely will return to this pleasant hotel in the future. May 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Alarms When I checked into the hotel I heard an alarm sounding behind the front desk. When I arrived at my room a similar audible alarm was sounding from the mechanical room directly across from my room. I called the front desk immediately to notify them and they contacted the engineering department and the alarm turned off. Shortly after, the alarm started sounding again so I called the front desk and was informed that engineering was working on it. Just before midnight the alarm started sounding again, so I again called the front desk. At this time I asked if the alarm was sounding on all floors or just mine and if it was just mine that I wanted to change rooms. She said she would check on it and call me back. She never called back. I heard engineering/maintenance outside my room on the radio and was hopeful it had been resolved and went to sleep to be woken up again within the hour to the alarm once again sounding. It proceeded to go on and off throughout the night. I reported it to the front desk the next morning as I once again heard the alarm coming from the control board behind the front desk and told her that I heard that similar noise all night. She wrote down my concerns, apologized and told me should would have moved me. In the end, I did not get a good night sleep and the staff did little to nothing to provide customer satisfaction.
