Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Convenience for Edinburgh airport
I have stayed at the Edinburgh airport holiday inn express twice now, it is very comfortable and convenient for flying from Edinburgh, especially if you're leaving early in the morning. I particularly like the fact that breakfast is available from 4am - 10am, and that there is a courtesy bus from there to the airport terminal building. I will use the holiday inn express again in the future.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Great for a few nights when visiting Edinburgh. Handy for the airport.
We stayed here for 4 nights whilst touring Scotland, primarily because we had an early flight back to London on our last morning. The hotel is situated near to the airport in an industrial area.
Check in was smooth as we had prepaid for our stay. The room was a typical HIE - with basic amenities. It had a good wifi connection and there was also a free safe; tea/coffee making facilities and a TV with most of the freeview channels.
The bed was very comfortable but seemed a small double so we felt a bit cramped. The shower room was roomy and modern with ample towels and toiletries. The water temperature was always perfect.
Other facilities at the hotel included a bar and a restaurant that served bar snacks. We didn't eat in the restaurant at night but enjoyed the inclusive breakfast each morning. There was enough choices of both hot or cold meals - cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, croissants, jams, scrambled eggs, beans and sausages with 2 industrial toasters. The sausages were a bit greasy as they were left swimming in cooking oil.
There wasn't any public transport nearby but the hotel offered an airport transfer at £2 a head, where you could then pick up the tram to get into Edinburgh city centre. As we had a rental car we decided to drive into the city.
We had free parking at the airport which must be a recent change as we were originally advised that it would cost £4 per night to park the car.
Another nice touch was a computer and printer which was free to use. Excellent if, like us, you need to print off your airline boarding pass.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Seanthesheep Great way to start any break
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on the night prior to our flight to Europe. On arrival the receptionist could not have been more helpful and provided us with all the information we required for our stay and transfer to the airport terminal the following morning. We had an early start but breakfast was available from about 0430, which meant we could get something to eat prior to our departure, which was great. We ate in the restaurant and the food was better than we expected and very reasonable. The room was comfortable and clean. Transfer to the airport the following morning was smooth enough and pick up the following week was just as straight forward. Overall I would recommend the Holiday Inn Express at Edinburgh Airport as the ideal place to start any break
