Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by East to west Comfortable, clean room and nice fireplace in common area.
We had a nice stay at the Gold Miners Inn in Grass Valley. We were attending a family wedding and many of the guests stayed here. Our room was comfortable and clean. The common area is very nice to gather in, complete with gas fireplace. There are complimentary drinks in the evening, so a nice place to gather. We only experienced one issue with a male employee working the front desk. He was short with everyone and made us feel like we were bothering him. No smile, no kind words, and very unprofessional. Everyone else was very kind. Also - the bride said she had issues getting a discounted group rate and even after she did, it wasn't being offered to guests. So just a few small problems, but overall it was a very nice stay. I would return (especially if the guy - whose name I won't give - is no longer working at the front desk).

There was a wedding party and lots of loud partying going on. Also, some sort of young girl pageant or something, so it was crowded.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Incredible staff
I just finished my second stay here in the past 6 months. The entire staff is great. They go out of their way to meet your needs, they are friendly and accommodating. Miley was there each day with a smile and a greeting, the cleaning staff worked with me on a convenient time to service my room due to my schedule, and it resulted in a second wonderful experience. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by auburngrrl Very overpriced motel
I am only posting because I saw that the host site claims a 5-star experience. It's not terrible, but it's a 3-star hotel at best.

There just aren't a lot of hotels to select from in this area and this hotel was built fairly recently, so it is still in good shape and the hotel rooms are only accessible from inside which makes everything safer. This community has a very low crime rate, yet you do still need to be alert as a common sense precaution. I lived here for 20 years and know it well enough.
Everything you need is within walking distance - shopping, restaurants and coffee houses, cultural arts, entertainment, city government offices, post office - all of it. There are many churches within a short drive, too, as well as more shopping and there are lots of visitor attractions nearby in both Grass Valley and Nevada City and areas beyond here.
DO take the free bottled water if you are a IHG rewards program member, rather than use the tap water in the bathroom, although the drinking water for this area is among the best I have enjoyed.
Don't expect a lot of television options unless you are willing to pay for the movies, though. Some hotels just don't offer as wide a variety of programming as others.

This location has a convenient location.
About average. The price is above average. I assume because it was over Christmas.
On the second to last day the heater fan starting making an awful grinding noise.
Did not bring to management attention as we didn't want to have to change rooms so close to checkout.
