Overall not a bad experience. It is a very bad neighborhood. Envision drug deals going down in the parking lot or on the sidewalk in front of the hotel.
Otherwise, the property is fine, the service[More]
staff helpful and kind. The rooms are clean and generally in good shape. [Less]
We chose this hotel to stay two nights while visiting the UC Berkeley campus which is a close 7 miles south. The hotel was extremely nice, clean, and comfortable as we have always found Holiday Inn[More]
Expresses to be. The food was great and the service was also excellent.
We had been advised that the surrounding city area(s) were a bit questionable so-to-speak and we found that to be true. We found some nice restaurants just off the freeway about 3 miles north in Pinole. It seemed that there were no nice family restaurants in close proximity to the hotel.
All-in-all though, the hotel was very nice, clean, comfortable, and safe; within close driving distance to UC Berkeley; and all the employees were very nice and courteous. Most certainly a good option if in the area. [Less]
