We had made several reservations for trips in the summer dropping off and picking up from KC. On our first night we had been placed on the 3rd floor. Although we had requested a NON smoking room apparently the floor is mixed with smoking rooms. The smell on this floor and in our NON smoking suite was terrible.There was no way to escape the strong smell, even when our door was closed it seemed to be in the fabric of the room. We were returning 2 days later so we requested and were CONFIRMED by the front desk, a different floor and assurred we would not have a similiar experience. However, when we arrived we had been bumped from our guarenteed reservation and placed again on the SMOKING floor. It was another overnight stay in a disgusting smelling environment. I had confirmed the request in person- our request WAS NOT to be on the third floor. However it was changed without our consent or an attempt to contact us for alternatives.We were left with no choice but to stay and pay. Other issues were the vending machines on all floors were broken for both trips. The breakfast leaves alot to be desired, powdered eggs , the boiled eggs were green inside. We had to drive to find a different option for breakfast. We have changed all our future reservation to a different hotel.

This is a nice hotel and we had enjoyed staying there on a previous visit. Our last visit however was so unfortunate that we felt like we needed to share our experience. At our first visit the staff was very happy to tell us that we were welcome to book in the future and would be given a reduced rate due to one of our children being a student at the local college. We did so and were excited to return. When we arrived our rate was $40 higher than what we had booked. That was nearly 50% higher than what we had been offered and confirmed. The front desk staff was very apologetic but could do nothing. The decision was made by the GM. We called IHG Guest Relations for assistance as we are Rewards Club members. They were very apologetic and said they would give the GM the opportunity to correct the situation. He opted not to so IHG issued us the refund directly. With management taking a position like this I would strongly encourage anyone booking at this hotel to be very very careful with what is booked versus what is charged.
