Have stayed there several times before, but this recent stay was very disappointing. First off, the place is being renovated, which is good but it would've been nice to know. The lobby clearly showed the effects of the re-model.
As for my room, I had to re-establish the channels on the TV in the front room, the ironing board did not remain open and in proper position. I had to iron with one hand and use the other to keep the legs from spreading apart and sinking to the floor and the bathroom did not drain properly. I told the front desk about the drain in the morning, but it did not appear anything was done. Or if it was, it might have drained a fraction faster. there was also what I was hoping was dirt, but could've been fecal matter in the toilet. Not sure if someone forgot to flush or something backed up from the work being done.

The hotel needs an overhaul. The staff was friendly. Other than not acknowledging my IHG status, they were nice. However, the room was outdated, not up to clean standards, no bathmat and towel had holes in them. For the rate I paid for the upgraded King suite, I should have stayed across the bridge and commuted.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by COG01 Not too bad
We stayed here for a personal trip. Although the staff probably works hard to keep it clean and pleasant the hotel is tired and really needs to be updated. The morning of the second day we found food crumbs around the refrigerator. The refrigerator was an old beat up college dorm room fridge that looked like it was purchased second hand. The room needed stronger light bulbs, you didn't have enough light to read, but that is probably so you cannot see other problems in the room. The room was higher priced than it should have been given the age/quality of the hotel. Overall if there were no other rooms available in Dahlgren or Fredericksburg we may stay here again.

The staff at this property are always friendly and thoughtful of our needs while staying there. I bring a group of 30 people there every year, the first weekend in May. We do the Virginia Run for the Fallen every year. This is a relay type run where a core team of runners rotate every two miles stopping at each pre-placed Hero marker along the tribute trail Honoring and Remembering OUR Fallen Military Heroes of Virginia. We always enjoy the end of the day after running 67 miles that day and look forward to a good night sleep.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NavyJeff Great staff, lousy wireless Internet
The staff are outstanding at making up for poor infrastructure. The wireless Internet is slow and has a weak signal throughout the hotel. There is no wired Internet option in-room.
The breakfast is right out of a box. A simple thing like a waffle maker is not available.
Last, there is no exercise room so you can do push-ups and sit-ups in your room but that is all. Surprising lack of amenities.

I haven't ever been in a hotel where the housekeeping service was so poor. One day they didn't leave towels. The next day they didn't leave toiletries. Clothes left behind by the last guest were still in the drawer
