Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Impressed with staff and great breakfast Have not stayed at a Holiday Express in a while, but when trying to find a hotel during an over night visit , it popped up on the radar. The hotel is located in an iffy area. Lots of homeless wandering around. Did not walk the area during the day and definitely not during the night. Parking for the handicap is located right by the entrance so that was great. The staff was superb. The reception and lobby area was very modern looking, very clean. But if you looked up, the ceiling had areas that had been repaired yet not painted. Not impressive. Room was very nice. Clean, very up to date, plenty of lighting. Bathroom clean and updated. The only negative was the bathroom door swinging into the room. Became an irritant walking around the room and running into the door all the time.(Sharing the room!:) The shuttle was available to take you to anywhere in the area. That was fantastic and the driver (Alfonso) was the best! If you are one who doesn't walk around the area where you are staying, this place is perfect. We were there to visit Little Tokyo and will use this Holiday Inn again when visiting other "locales" nearby. February 7, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff Terrible Breakfast The staff was extremely friendly and helpful except in the breakfast area. The breakfast was quite a let down from what we have become accustomed to at HIE. They do not carry grape jelly, their honey needed to be replaced months ago, the usual blueberry and chocolate muffins were yet to be seen, the food quality was poor, and they did not have enough seating. People were having to eat standing up and in the entry way. The hotel is very dated. It could use some upgrades and improvements. The sink in our room would not drain and the heating and air unit put out a puttid smell. The did fix the drainage problem but not the heating and air smell. The parking area is also not large enough for the number of guests staying there. After 2 nights we decided to check out early and go stay elsewhere. Staff at the front desk are extremely friendly. Do not expect any help from the breakfast staff though. It is close to everything but not worth the hasle of the above listed problems. February 7, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Couldn't have asked for a better deal! Surrounding Area Rough. We really appreciated the value of this hotel. Once we were at the hotel we were very happy. The surrounding neighborhood is pretty rough though. We never did anything around the hotel so it was never an issue. Once you were inside you didn't realize you were in a rougher area at all. It was a great price, great stay, everyone was very helpful, free shuttle service and free parking were a steal!! January 26, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excelente viaje El único pero que le pongo al hotel, es la zona donde esta ubicado, la zona alrededor del hotel parece poco segura y la fachada del hotel no es la ejor, una vez adentro es muy seguro, el hotel esta muy limpio y con un aroma muy agradable, el personal es muy amable y eficiente, las habitaciones muy limpias, pero les fatla un poco de iluminación. desayuno muy rico pero le faltan ocpiones como fruta. el servicio de shuttle a staples center muy puntual y el chofer muy amable.
