Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by HIE MERIDEN WAS A LET DOWN Upon checking in to the Holiday Inn Express Meriden, CT it became apparent that this was one of the few HIE properties that did not provide a refrigerator nor a microwave in the rooms. This feature is important to me as I travel extensively and have become accustomed to having a fridge and microwave in my room. Not only that, but this was one of the more expensive HIE's I have stayed at especially with a location sort of out in the middle of no where. Another let down was that the advertised Business Center consisted of a computer that looked to be about 10 years old, and of course it was out of order during my stay. This is another reason that I stay mostly at IHG properties. All in all I was not impressed with this one and will put it on my avoid list. T.M. March 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Attentive staff, but poor sleep Front desk and breakfast area staff were friendly and willing to help with any request. Other guests were a bit noisy and we were woken up several times the first night by people in other rooms and in the hallways. On the second day we saw ants near the door to our room and by the bathroom which was strange. The mattress was a bit caved in, causing us to wake up frequently to readjust. By the second morning, our backs ached. There was a large handprint at the top of the headboard, which made me a bit uneasy. I mean, I know what goes on in hotel rooms, but I don't like that kind of reminder. I wish the cleaning crew had seen that and made sure to clean the headboard. I've stayed in cleaner and quieter Holiday Inn Expresses before, but this wasn't the worst hotel. The rooms are huge, and the TVs really nice. It was nice to have a couch to sit on as well. The breakfast selection was great. I wish there was a mini-fridge in the room. We had to throw out some leftovers and other perishable food because I thought there would be one based on the pictures on the website. March 13, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful lobby, quiet hotel, great relaxation We had a terrific time. TV was updated and room was clean. Heat worked, bathroom was clean. Only downfall: no mini fridge. And housekeeping never brought us fresh towels during the course of our stay; nor did they change garbage or anything of the sort. However, the rest of the staff was more than accomodating, and the hotel was a quiet, safe, and comfortable. Overall, we loved it. We'll be back. March 11, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel Great size room. Minor little issues So i'll start off with my room. HUGE!!!!! Has a nice HDTV issue is that there was no HD channels to watch, everything was analog and all the channels didn't come in cause the hotel hadn't switched over to Digital yet. Bathroom lighting was bad. Temperature Control in the room was horrible. Room was set at 74 when I checked in. WAY TOO HOT!!! Turned on cool and temp to 60 and it wouldn't stay on to cool the room.....Had to open the window in 20 degree weather so I could go to sleep. Breakfast, standard selection. My main issue with Breakfast was the family with loud annoying children running around causing a ruckus and the staff just watching it happen while others are trying to enjoy a cup of coffee and something to eat before going to work or a class or something. I understand that everyone has a right to use the space if they are guests, but when the other was too busy talking on the phone or talking to the staff to control her children, something could be said. especially if they kids are bothering others. Lastly.....3 floors of vending machines...not one bottle of water available. Nice, clean hotel, courteous front desk staff. Would stay again. March 5, 2015
