Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient, Quiet, and Worthwhile By staying at this hotel we were able to easily enjoy both Rhode Island and Massachusetts - everything was within a hour's drive. The staff here were excellent and truly concerned about our comfort during our stay. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel. October 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always a great place to stay near Newport! My family and I have stayed at this hotel several times, and each time we have had a very positive experience. The staff members are friendly, helpful, and responsive. The hotel is clean and well-kept. The included breakfast is a good value and has pretty good options for everyone. We enjoy having the pool and the gym as well as having access to coffee and hot water for tea at any time. Each room has a microwave, mini-refrigerator, and a DVD player, with free DVD rentals at the front desk. The business center offers access to a computer as well as brochures for the various activities, restaurants, etc. A binder near the front desk contains menus for many of the local restaurants. The hotel is conveniently located in Middletown, which is very close to Newport, and which offers some nice things to do as well. You can't beat having free parking instead of staying at a tiny inn or hotel that charges daily for parking. Right within walking distance is a Chili's restaurant, but there are many other restaurants nearby. This time around, the hotel was extremely crowded, probably due to the wine and food festival in Newport, so the 24-hour coffee and hot water was not readily available. However, as usual, the front desk staff was responsive when informed by another guest that there was no more coffee available. This is our "go-to" hotel whenever we visit Newport, and we will definitely return. September 30, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by common areas Our only complaint was that a few areas of the hotel looked like they needed cleaning...the main entrance floor area, 1st floor hallway leading to the elevator, and the elevator. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Maybe they are having an off month? I've stayed here before, but don't remember it being quite so dingy. The room was stuffy and smelled musty, and the halls/common spaces smelled terribly of ages-old smoke and feet. I was not impressed with the sad state of cleanliness and upkeep overall, and my room in particular. I would have asked for another room, but didn't have very high hopes- if there had been a nicer room, they probably would have already put me in it, right? The breakfast area, and main common area, on the other hand, were pretty spotless. I feel bad about complaining, because the staff was perfectly fine. However, I think it's pretty disappointing for a HIE to be this run down. They are able to get by, however, because they are one of the only choices around. September 27, 2015

We were recognized and greeted with a smile by staff that remember us from previous stays. We had a last minute room change request upon check-in and it was granted without any problems which was greatly appreciated! The suite was clean, comfortable and perfect for our needs while traveling with a teenager. We were traveling on the weekend, and the staff members working the breakfast buffet did an EXCELLENT job keeping everything very well stocked and clean considering the hotel was full, this was no easy task!
