Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nicest chain hotel with great proximity to the beach Holiday inn express is solid as a brand. not a luxury accommodation by any stretch but a good balance of cost and amenities. The location near the beach is perfect if you want to be close. The food for breakfast (i'm sorry) is meh. I knew it was meh before we showed up because they are quite consistent. and we stayed there anyways since we have our traditional places to grab breakfast. It didn't really affect our choice of places to stay but it is worth mentioning if this is being considered as part of your budget. The food isn't awful it's just not great either. Otherwise the hotel was great. they even made sure we were aware of the tarballs on the beach and provided wipes that were (allegedly) effective at removing the tar. (we didn't use them.) if you're looking for a very good room for a fair price, this is a hard place to beat. July 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by For a quick weekend getaway.... ....Port A is the place to go. Hotel was great within walking distance to beach. Great service provided by hotel during peak tourist season!!! Would recommend the chain go back to offering homemade pancakes instead of having a machine roll them. Pancakes were flat and not fluffy as they should be, but no worries. Also would add fruit bowls (berries, kiwi, grapes) in addition to the whole apples/oranges and bananas. July 30, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to IHG standards but ok The hotel needs to be updated. It's showing a lot of wear and tear. The breakfast isn't even worth free so go out to eat. We requested a room with a couch 3 months in advance and called the day before arrival to re-confirm however upon check-in, we were told it wasn't available. So we had a small room with 2 beds and a rollaway. We stayed 3 nights and only got maid service 2 of the 3 days. All I got for that was "we're sorry. You can pick up fresh towels at the front desk. As a Platinum member, this is not the service I have come to expect from an IHG property. But, all that said, we still had a good time and the location is pretty good. 2 blocks from the beach. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing stay Upon check-in, I was informed the room I had requested was not available. We would have to take a smaller room with a roll-away. Things happen and I was ok with this, even though no apology was offered. I was not greeted as a Platinum member which in my travels is very rare at an IHG property, nor was I offered any welcome award as is also standard practice for Priority Club members. We stayed 3 nights. On day 2, we got no maid service. All I got was an "I'm sorry", can I bring you fresh towels? This property is far below what I consider to be IHG standards. The "free" breakfast was also horrible. We tried it once then went elsewhere for a proper breakfast. July 28, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Port Aransas Family Vacation As a whole my visit was pleasant, the breakfast was decent, and the room as well as the hotel was clean. My only concern was that the pool was out of pool towels two nights in a row, and out of the four times we went to the front desk for assistance, there was only a representative there one of those times. In spite of this, the stay as a whole was enjoyable. July 17, 2015
