Breakfast area lacked seating to the extent that we could not take advantage of "free" breakfast. Eating area was standing room only for over an hour before we left and options were not replenished with repeated lineups. First property we had seen this in.

It was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. But The $58.00 charge for parking was high.

Last time we stayed here, the front desk help wasn't pleasant at all, I didn't get an upgrade (I'm a Platinum IHG member), and I just was generally unpleased with the noise level of the "slim pickings" room we got assigned. I didn't realize we had a renovated room, and this time, we got a room with a much BETTER location, but it was very dated. The girl who helped us check in was SO very nice. She went out of her way to make sure I was happy and I believe she did her best to do so, which was a welcomed change from my last stay. The room we got was much quieter, we even had a kinda-sorta obstructed view of the top of Alcatraz from the 3rd floor room we got. The location is excellent, less than a block from the Wharf and walking distance to Pier 39. This hotel is a good value for the money compared to others in the area, as long as you get the updated room. Breakfast selection here is a little better than the average Holiday Inn Express breakfast, but still has room for improvement in quality of core food selections (as do all Holiday Inn Express properties). I mean, come on, how much cardboard eggs & sausage patties and flat pancakes do people want to eat? Despite that, I do recommend this property for it's convenience. Park on the street and take ALL your stuff out of your car to avoid getting your window smashed (which we saw twice on our last visit), and make sure you mind the street sweeper schedule unless you want to get towed OR you can always pay the hefty hotel parking fee. I wish parking was free for Platinum IHG members, or at least discounted, because it really is excessive.

We love the Fisherman's Warf area. Holiday Inn Express is so close to it. We have stayed here several times. Every time we have had a great experience. I feel that the staff has been very well trained. We will be back.

Great location if touristy stuff is your main goal. The rooms are nothing special but they are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is standard HI Express fare, which is pretty decent to begin with. The dining area is huge to handle the large crowds in the morning, so it never seems crowded. You can grab fruit and other food to go to keep you satisfied as you see the sights the city has to offer. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

Stayed here for one night and it was fine – nothing great, nothing poor – just fine.
Cannot beat the location though – right next to Fisherman’s Wharf and the cable car line.
Rooms etc are what you would expect and breakfast offer was fine.None of the rooms appear to have great views, but hey in SF who spends a lot of time in a hotel room!
No bar in hotel which surprised me.
Bizarrely for IHG the staff local knowledge was not great – asked just two questions about the locality during the stay and both were patchy – one was how long on average does a trip to Alcatraz take (did not know the answer to that one) and the other one was quickest way to find the Cable Car to Chinatown (wrong answer given). Considering the location of the hotel those knowledge gaps surprised me. Only guess work but this hotel is worth it for the location alone so I guess they can afford to be a bit off their game and still see a full house.
