Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A huge area for improvement The room didn't smell very good, even being a non-smoking room. The light at the desk didn't work; the handle of the water tab leaked. The lighting in the bath room is not very bright. If you want to shave you better know where to shave, because it's very difficult to see it in the mirror. You can't open the window; therefore you don't hear the noice of the street. The vending machine was empty at 10 pm. If you want to have a drink - drink water. The breakfast is very poor compared to other hotels in Shanghai, but the fresh coffee is very good. The waiters in the breakfast room don't speak any word in English. The same problem you have if you decided to eat one of the few dishes offered for dinner. Be careful when you ask for a taxi, because the guy from the hotel offers you always a "fake" taxi which is much more expensive than a normal taxi. And for a "real" taxi you have to wait.... Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst HI Express Stay Previously, I've been a fan of IHG and its hotels but after a fall-out on an issue they couldn't resolve and handled poorly, I started going to other hotels, which provide much better service than IHG. I wanted to give IHG another chance, so stayed at an HI Express near where I need to work, but found out: A) The washroom door didn't close properly; B) The hotel could not give me an extra shower towel, as they claim they don't have any left; C) The room was uncomfortably warm despite it being summertime and the windows could not be opened; D) The carpet felt dirty.
