A property which is run very poorly

I am a Platinum Elite member so stay in lots of IHG properties. Upon checkin, I couldn't get into the room. Someone came up from the desk and created a bunch of keys - the door was broken - it had to be jiggled and pulled and after 3-4 minutes, it worked. Since no other room was available, I had to stay there, but the lady assured me that the door would be fixed the next day. Roll ahead 24 hours - same problem. No note indicating that anyone tried to fix it.

Breakfast - the pump on the decaf part worked so "well" that it took 18 pumps to almost fill a cup. When I asked about it, they said - oh, well there are two broken pumps. I asked if anyone ever asked to get them fixed? A shrug.

Computer room - one computer doesn't work at all. The screen is there, but regardless of the icon chosen, nothing happens. The other computer regularly timed out.

This is clearly a hotel run by a manager who has no quality training or is simply not inclined to keep things in working condition. And - it is the most expensive Holiday Inn Express that I have stayed in this year. Value? Hardly.

In the room - I had the heat on - it worked okay in the evening, but in the morning it was blowing cold air.

There are other little things I could mention that puts this property behind other HIE in the chain, but I'll leave it at this.

Just to clarify on the sleep - for me the bed was too hard, but my mother slept wonderfully. My lack of sleep isn't a good reflection on the hotel itself. Also, disappointed that the pool was not working, but the desk staff was very apologetic and comped one of the other rooms (of people I was with).

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Maid service was solid. The elevator in hotel is extremely slow. During my stay the pool area was out of service. I was give no advance notification of this situation, nor offered a reduction in room rate for not having full services

Hospitality was good- options for private business rooms were not available or offered for private study groups. You can tell the rooms were not cleaned with detail as blood stains, scum stains and other visibility uncomfortably dirty stains were very visible.

Enjoyed stay, rooms was clean, however housekeeping woke me up everyday around 8:30am to clean the room until I put do not disturb sign on door. You would assume that they knew I was a guest for a week and not checking out every day. Check out is at 11 am right!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. I am sorry that housekeeping disturbed you but as you know the best way not to be disturbed is to put privacy sign on the door. Housekeeping has only so many hours to clean rooms and they have to wait till 11 to go to the check outs so they start on the rooms they know are gone and work from there.
