Once the picture of post-industrial decline, Glasgow, Scotland's biggest city, is now the site of an exciting urban renaissance. As the proud bearer of an UNESCO Creative City designation and the host of numerous musical events each week, Glasgow provides more opportunities for cultural indulgence than you'll have time for in one visit. While you're in town, make sure to book into a centrally located boutique Glasgow hotel, where you'll find all of the comfort you need to rest up, relax, and discover all that this rapidly rejuvenating city has to offer.

Formerly known as the "second city of the empire," Glasgow's city architecture benefited from an influx of cotton and textile production wealth, enabling the construction of dazzling ornate buildings and an extensive public parks system. Begin your visit with a walking tour of the Victorian and Edwardian buildings on display in the city centre, including the Glasgow Cathedral and the City Chambers.

Glasgow has a number of artistic attractions you won't want to miss. Browse the 9,000 strong Burrell Collection or the always innovative Gallery of Modern Art for a glimpse into Scottish and international art from yesterday and today. Alternatively, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum provides a fascinating look into the history of the Scottish people, as well as a number of interactive displays. The Glasgow Science Centre is also highly interactive, as is the Police Museum, which details the history of Britain's oldest police force.

If it's outdoor pursuits that get your heart pumping, Glasgow features a number of green attractions you won't want to miss. Point your feet in the direction of the Botanic Gardens, Glasgow Green or Kelvingrove Park for tropical flora and fauna, or take a look at Nelson's Memorial. Alternatively, Fossil Grove, located within Victoria Park, offers an up-close look at an ancient preserved forest, while Tollcross Park will wow you with its rose and winter gardens. If you'd like to get in your dose of outdoors living while seated in a stadium, head to Hampden Park, Celtic Park, Ibrox Stadium or Firhill to see the local or national teams play. As the national stadium, Hampden also features a fascinating exhibit on the history of Scottish football, and provides regular tours.

After all of your adventures, you're sure to have worked up an appetite. But if traditional Scottish haggis doesn't get your stomach rumbling, don't worry; Glasgow is a truly international city with diverse fare to please even the pickiest of eaters. Naturally, fish and chips are a popular choice, but so too is Asian, Italian, Mexican and fine European fare available at a number of high-end eateries. And of course, the Indian cuisine here is not to be missed, rated as some of the best in the UK.

Looking to get a little shopping done? Head to the pedestrianised Golden Z (known otherwise as Argyle, Buchanan and Sauchiehall Streets) or the Buchanan Galleries for a high-end experience. For something a little livelier, the numerous stalls at the Barras in Glasgow's East End sell just about everything under the sun, and they'll provide a much more dynamic look into Scottish culture.

From bars and clubs to grand symphony halls, Glasgow offers more theatrical and musical performances than you'll be able to sample in one visit. The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, the Royal Scottish Academy of Arts and Drama, the Theatre Royal, the King's Theatre, the Pavillion and the Panopticon Music Hall are just a few venues whose billings you'll want to be sure to check before planning your night out.

From Glasgow it's easy to reach other top destinations on the A82, such as the beautiful Loch Lomond. Edinburgh can be reached easily via train or bus, while the West Highland Railway will provide you with enough stunning sights to last a lifetime.

With so much to offer, it's important to choose a comfortable place to return to each night when visiting this busy and exciting city. You'll do just that when you choose to stay in one of our boutique hotels in Glasgow, where friendly staff and a host of amenities will ensure you always have a home away from home. Book today and begin dreaming of your unique Glasgow adventure.

Amazing value for money

Did not expect the whole experience of the hotel and had a great stay and will definitely be back [Less]
Scullys thoughts
By Scully
An excellent welcoming reception, staffed by lovely employees who were helpful and informative. My only criticism is the lack of hotel parking. You have to use the NCP carpark over the road [Less]
Great value for money
By Debbie
Ideally situated for the city centre, convenient car park across from hotel with capped rate. Staff friendly and helpful and breakfast was very welcome. Nice to have a bar to sit in . Room was [More] comfortable, only tiny issue was weird bathroom door arrangement! [Less]
First time stay

I would highly recommend this hotel as the staff go beyond and are extremely helpful . [Less]
Ban smoking in the hotel
By Greenock lassie
I always enjoy my stay at the Greenock Holiday Inn Express, but for the first time had to spend one night on the smoking floor as all the non-smoking rooms were taken. Frankly, if I'd known what an [More] unpleasant experience this was going to be I would have stayed at another hotel. I'm astonished that smoking is allowed anywhere on the premises let alone an entire floor of smoking rooms. Having said that, everything else about our stay was well up to standard and the staff were brilliant. [Less]
Comfy bed
By k288
Decent room. Comfy bed and was good having the sofa in the room to watch t.v. Should have electrical sockets near bed. Bathroom was good except there was rust on the metal bits of shower and the [More] extractor fan was covered in dust. Ask for a room further away from the lift if planning on sleeping in bc it is quite loud in the morning. Could hear everyone's conversations and cleaning carts constantly rolling in and out. The woman checking me in was nice and offered a late checkout for signing up to loyalty program which I did. [Less]
Glasgow Airport stay
By Andy1806
Weronika Rybaczek is an outstanding employee, she responded so quickly to my request which is exceptional thank you. This is a fantastic hotel. [Less]
Great hotel that falls down on its food.
By hyphen
Great location for the airport. Comfortable rooms that are well-maintained. Friendly staff. But poor quality food at both dinner (a steak pie containing only two pieces of beef), and breakfast [More] (poorly-cooked hot breakfast items sat too long in the bain-marie.) Also, room preferences were not met on arrival. [Less]
easy hotel to stay in for flying

Easy hotel to stay in for flying as can have a good breakfast before flying [Less]
