    Neighborhoods

    Explore our neighborhood.

Welcome to the Theatre District, a place where well-to-do, picture-perfect Paris rubs up against the edgier, sparklier side of the city. It’s a quirky quarter fizzing with cultural life thanks to its eclectic theatres, music halls and opera houses. The theatre, music and the Opera are written into the very DNA of the neighborhood, still attracting trailblazers who uphold its proud traditions of excellence and innovation passed down since the time of Molière. As the lights come up each night, locals and visitors alike flock to get their fix of everything from farce to philosophy to folk music. And at the center of it all is the awe-inspiring might of the Paris Opera, which gives the area its name.

    Boulevard des Capucines

This is one of Baron Haussman’s four “Grands Boulevards”, steeped in cultural history. It was the home of wry, risqué music hall legend Mistinguett, and the scene of the Lumière brothers’ first-ever public movie projection. Plus, it's the location of a much-loved 19th century wooden roller coaster that was torn down in 1893 to make way for the Olympia Music Hall.

    Boulevard des Capucines
    Passage des Panoramas

Take a stroll along the intriguing and elegant Passage des Panoramas. It's home to the Théâtre des Variétés, where theatregoers pick up their tickets, then idle away an hour in the arcade’s bars and boutiques. Don’t miss the wonderful Stern family engraving shop, open since 1849.

    Passage des Panoramas
    Palais Garnier

The true heart of the neighborhood, the awe-inspiring Palais Garnier is home to the Paris Opera ballet and the Paris Opera. The Opéra’s lavish and ostentatious decor (including a ceiling painted by Chagall) provided the inspiration for Gaston Leroux’s world-famous “Phantom of the Opera.”

    Palais Garnier
    Olympia Music Hall

The Olympia stakes a convincing claim to be the best live venue in the city. Its program is eclectic bordering on eccentric, swinging between chanson française and Anglo-Saxon indie, via rap, pop and stand-up (Eddie Izzard has played several gigs here in recent years).

    Olympia Music Hall
    Folies Bergère

Just 15 minutes away from your hotel, you’ll find the stuff of Paris legend: the Folies Bergère, one of the city's most renowned classic cabarets. Find the long-running Comédie Caumartin and the comic musicals of the Théâtre Daunou here.

    Folies Bergère
    Théâtre du Nord-Ouest

The Théâtre du Nord-Ouest is an imaginative venue that runs shows nightly and mixes up works by unknown new authors with classics. It's also known for running “complete works” seasons. Plus, there’s Le Comedy Club, a flamboyant stand-up den created by TV star Jamel Debbouze.

    Théâtre du Nord-Ouest
    Théâtre des Bouffes Parisiens

Founded by composer Jacques Offenbach in 1855, and still drawing a loyal following for its live music, magic shows and short-run plays. The theater stands on the Passage Choiseul, one of the city’s most beautiful covered passages. Scores of these exquisitely decorated, hidden-away arcades were built, but only twenty or so remain.

    Flottes

The restaurant aims to satisfy everyone’s taste. With its traditional French cuisine, one won’t be disappointed! The cuisine is fresh, French and following the seasons. The true brasserie with locals offers a typical Parisian experience.

    Flottes
    Market

Market is a fashionable restaurant offering eclectic, Asian-French cuisine. Located on Avenue Matignon near the Champs-Élysées, Market was decorated by Christian Liaigre with simple materials, including marble, wood, and leather. Chef Jean-Georges delivers inventive dishes using fresh market produce and original combinations of spices and seasonings.

    Market
    Place du Marche Saint-Honoré

Only a few steps away from the hotel, la Place offers different restaurants to please everyone. Among them you’ll find Razowski (which touts the best burgers in the city), and “L’absinthe,” the “bistrot” of the 2 Michelin Star chef, Michel Rostang. You can also have brunch in “Le Pain Quotidien.”
