Really really disappointing

I was very excited to stay at this hotel as it is 50metres away from where I am working in Birmingham. I asked for a quiet room and was given 2425 (by a very nice receptionist who was genuinely trying to help).


The aircon/heating in the room made a noise when you switched it on so I just left it switched off even though it was cold. In the evening I tried to work at the table. There was no table light so I could not see my laptop keyboard. I worked for an hour using the torch on my iPhone to shine on the keyboard and with the bendy reading lights at the side of the bed pointed across the room. Eventually I gave up.


I watched TV. The image would last for 30 seconds and then the TV signal would disappear with a hissing sound and not come back unless you turned the TV off and on

It would last another 30 secs then disappear again. I gave up on this too.


All night there was noise in the room. The main water pipes for the hotel seemed to run past the room so I presume that every time someone flushed a toilet or had a shower that triggered an enormous noise in the water pipes. I kept being wakened by the noise. Eventually about 0140 I tried to call reception but the phone didn't work. Eventually I called the external number which routed through to guest services in America who recorded my complaint


I woke up continually and at 0540 managed to call reception again about the noise. The phone in the room is black with black buttons and incredibly small fine text and you need to press a button on the handset for it to work. None of which is remotely obvious.


The duty manager was very apologetic and said to speak to the hotel manager at 0945.


I did this but got the impression that the manager wasn't very interested to be honest.

He promised me 2000 IHG rewards points as compensation which I thought was remarkably little for a totally lost nights sleep but said nothing. These points have NOT been credited to my account 12 days later.


The points due for the stay have also credited incorrectly - 1569 points instead of the promised 1882 points.

On a plus note the gym was awesome and the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon at breakfast was the nicest breakfast I have ever had.

By the time I got back to London in the evening I was totally shattered as I hadn't slept the previous night

I want to go back to the gym as it is fab so will give the hotel one more go, but to be honest I am just really nervous to go back

We visit Birmingham regularly on business and stay at the Indigo Cube. The reception staff were excellent, very personable and informative. The room was very well present and spotlessly clean. The leisure facilities are the best we have used within the city. The dining experience at Marco Pierre Whites and the bar lounge are great. The ambiance and decor on the 25th floor are equal to any we have experienced in London.
An excellent stay with great staff and a wonderful hotel.
We have taken friends and family to the hotel and all have agreed that it is an outstanding facility for the city centre.

The hotel is in a good location, but the Marco Pierre White restaurant has launched a late live music night, for Friday/ Saturday and the music can be clearly heard in the rooms. The receptionist, when we checked in, advised there was a function in the bar that night and gave us free drinks vouchers, we did not realise just how loud this function would be. This is not a hotel I would return to while the live music event is still in place.

Best gym, good place.

It's a fine hotel in central Birmingham. Great view for breakfast and fab food too, with excellent service. Rooms are a bit 'cold' looking, but v comfortable. Always a Kat Kat and Coke in the fridge. The confusing lifts drive me mad, but it's a really good place in a fab location. You won't find a better hotel gym anywhere!

Best room with amazing views

This was the best room me and my fiancé have ever stayed in. We were lucky enough to have the biggest room with the most amazing across the whole of Birmingham. I'm not sure how much this room usually costs but being part of IHG rewards is really beneficial when it comes to special offers. The staff at reception were really friendly at both check in and check out. As I'd put the reason for our stay was a birthday, we entered the room to find a little plate with happy birthday in chocolate and a couple of brownie bites. That little personal touch was lovely.
The only slight negative is the spa is quite small but it's perfect for a quick unwind
