Location of hotel was excellent, rooms comfortable and great shower and bathroom facilities. Good choice for breakfast and all staff friendly and helpful. Good that have parking in hotel grounds.

A high-quality hotel in the centre of Durham which combines character with modern amenities, thanks to being a conversion of an early twentieth century, architecturally-impressive, civic building. Friendly staff, atmospheric bar and restaurant, and first rate breakfast with cooked-to-order main course.

The Hotel Indigo stay exceeded our expectations in every respect. From booking through to check-out, the whole experience was simple. All the staff were pleasant and helpful making the stay relaxing from the moment of arrival. The hotel is welcoming in all aspects - atmosphere, decor and personnel - and nothing was too much trouble for anyone if you needed anything or had queries. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. We will gladly return. Thank you

Hotel was perfectly situated for visiting Durham. Beautiful old building tastefully decorated.
Receptionist staff were very friendly and helpful as in fact were all the staff that we encountered.
We loved the design of our room. It was warm, comfortable with a great sized bathroom and lovely shower.
We ate in the Marco Pierre White restaurant. Service again was exceptional.
Breakfast was taken in the same room, providing a variety of options which included overnight oats.
Would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again when visiting Durham.

A thoroughly lovely stay in a clean and well maintained hotel. Lots of character staying on the ground floor. Great location for exploring Durham with plenty of parking options.

excellent location. City center was walkable and staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Hotel architecture was beautiful and historic. Excellent restaurant and bar. Coffee shop in lobby was also excellent. 10/10 stay

Very nice hotel. Wonderful staff and great breakfast. Very close to Durham centre but far enough to be away from noise. Nice and quiet for sleeping

We chose to stay at this hotel mainly for its ideal location which was within 5 minutes walking distance to the town. When we arrived we did not know parking was limited in the hotel car park, however we did manage to get parked out front for the same price.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, the hotel has such beautiful design and is full of character.
The rooms are gorgeous, decorated in a way which fits the location and older history of Durham.
We went to the onsite Marco Pierre restaurant which I 100% recommend if you get the chance.
We enjoyed our stay and would happily come again when we return to Durham.

This is a beautiful hotel in a lovely city. Staff great. I don't believe you will regret staying here should you choose to.

We enjoyed the whole experience at the Indigo. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Durham. The visit was enhanced by the fact that my mother worked here when it was Shire Hall in the 1930s.

Another great weekend was had in Durham and made extra special by my stay at the historic Indigo hotel.
The check-in experience was very professional and I have to mention Sharon in particular for her warm welcome (Mr. Bird, Jess and Janet also played their part at reception).
The breakfast experience is wonderful and all of the staff work hard to make it really nice with great service and amazing food.
Dinner on the Saturday evening proved to be fantastic with a superb selection of delicious food and a perfectly cooked steak was enjoyed including its mouth watering presentation.
This hotel will always be my preferred choice in the lovely city of Durham.

Weekend away for birthday celebrations. Hotel is in a great location and the building and the decor are amazing.
Had a lovely time and the staff were so friendly.
Our room was close to one of the automatic doors to the bedrooms and it was very noisy from being opened and closed all the time.
Breakfast service on the 2nd morning was very slow and scrambled eggs were undercooked and bacon and black pudding were hard and overcooked.
Overall though we had a lovely weekend and would return to this hotel.
