Please consider new pest control, rooms are experiencing a pest control problem as of May 2023 that needs to be addressed. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is conveniently near Jacksonville University, Publix, and Mayport Naval.

My stay at this Candlewood Suites was very humbling. The accommodations were simple and clean. The little stove top was cute. The refig kept all my drinks nice and cold. The bedding was comfortable. Like I said, very humbling. And, can’t forget the staff… everyone was very professional, helpful, polite, and accommodating. Would I stay there again, yep, no problem. The thing there aren’t any good restaurants in the immediate area. So, if you don’t in your room.. you’re stuck with fast-food or take a drive across town for a decent steak.

Female manager was incompetent and rude

The female manager who checked me in was appropriate at check-in. However, when I went to my room, there was an issue with insects around the window. I called and said she would get someone to look at a new room and then move me. After re-packing my things, and sitting in the room for one hour, I called the front desk only to find out that she had gone home and not let anyone know I was waiting to be moved. After the situation was taken care of by the new front desk person, I went on with my stay. However, for the rest of my time, when I would walk past the front desk, the original manager never greeted me, never looked my way, never asked if I needed anything as is typical with most hotels . But at checkout it got worse. She acted bothered by me. No greeting, no, how was your stay etc. I asked for a receipt, and she said there is no receipt very bluntly. I asked that some thing be printed for me and she sighed and went to the back printer and brought me a sheet of paper that had neither points nor cash showing. I said what is this? And instead of her explaining what she had given me, she decided to say, “ma’am I’ve been doing my job for 11 years” with her hands crossed with much negative attitude.
At that point, because I could already feel all the negative attitude that she had been exhibiting, I said all right, and I picked up my stuff and I walked out as she spoke rudely and mumbled words, and I said a few choice words as I left the hotel insulted and unhappy. Horrible horrible horrible. I cannot believe front staff management would act like that. I travel a lot all over the world, and I’ve never encountered such a rude person in a Position of authority. All she had to do was take ownership for her mistake and help me make my stay better by not ignoring me and being rude to me. This person needs to be removed from her position.

I wouldn’t expect a hotel with a reputable name to have roaches. We had a very short stay as it was just an over night while we were on our way to Tampa, but we could not get out of the hotel fast enough. The reviews seemed good, so we chose the hotel, but within 2 minutes of being in the room, we started seeing roaches. We figured if they were in one room, they had to be in the entire hotel and it wasn’t worth complaining to the front desk about because they surely had to know about it.
The room is very comfortable and accommodating, the house keeping is very good

My family and I have needed to have to stay at this location on several occasions when our home was damaged due to storms and every time we have been received with the upmost respect and support that we need at that time. In the future we will never go to any other place for my family to stay at. Thank you so much for all the love that we have received from your staff in the time of need. Thank you for such a great place to call our home.

The staff was unwilling to work with me at all not on early check inn, late checkout, the amount of the incidentals hold, room upgrade or the lack of fee laundry that is stated on their website. Then the room is down right disgusting everything looked dirty and unclean. The shower head had something yellow hanging from it and there was a hole in the shower wall that was covered with drywall putty.

After traveling for 20 hours during a holiday it was a pleasure to arrive at the hotel and be greeted with a smile at midnight and warm friendly voice saying, "Welcome, how can I help you? and having your room expedited quickly.

The rooms are presently equipped with full size refrigerator, dishwasher, 2-burner stove, cook ware, comfortable beds, nice TV, well equipped gym, friendly staff and nice breakfast.
