Introduction to China
This was the first time we had stayed in China and the hotel was an excellent introduction. It is located in a god location and the standard of the hotel was high.

Another of my favourite hotels

A wonderful week-long break
I had been to Chongqing previously but only for two nights (one day) at the end of a Yangtze Cruise and was anxious to revisit this interesting city to gain a better impression and so booked a week[More]
at the Intercontinental.
It is unlikely I could have made a better decision on where to stay since from the moment I arrived until the moment I departed everything ran like clockwork.
At check-in the greeting by Guest Relations was both warm and friendly giving the impression they were genuinely pleased to see me again, rather than just simply going through the motions of being polite. The same feeling permeated throughout the hotel; everyone whom I came into contact with displayed a ‘can do’ attitude with no request appearing either difficult or unwelcome.
I had booked a Club IC room and enjoyed the benefit of an upgrade to a Suite which was ideally sized for a single traveller, being neither ostentatious nor cramped. Housekeeping was exemplary and I made a point of complementing the management on this before I checked out.
The hotel has a number of long-stay residents who access the Club IC facility and I enjoyed sharing a beer or wine with a few of them during the course of my stay; this made it a more pleasant experience for someone travelling on their own and for that I must thank the General Manager whose thoughtfulness in introducing me to other guests in residence was much appreciated.
I took breakfast and my evening meal in the Club IC and also had the opportunity to sample Gingers restaurant where a wonderful lunch was served; words cannot describe the superb quality of the food and beverages presented. This is also the location of the Sunday lunchtime brunch, which I highly recommend.
There is quite a lot to see and do within a short distance of the hotel and if you visit Chongqing then do take the opportunity to walk rather than simply taking a hotel car or a taxi; it can be tiring if as when I was there the temperature is hovering in the mid-30C’s but it’s well worth it. A 5-minute or so walk will take you to the Hongya Cave complex which hosts a number of restaurants and bars as well as local stalls selling all kinds of gift items. Worth mentioning the Irish Bar there does an ‘all you can drink for 99RMB’ on Thursday evenings…that’s around $15 or £10 by the way!
All in all I had a really enjoyable stay at the Chongqing Intercontinental and commend it to you as an ideal base if visiting this vibrant city. [Less]
Nice Comfortable Hotel

Mixed opinions of the front desk staff.
On my arrival to the hotel, I was not impressed with the front desk staff but, on my penultimate day of my check out, the services improved by a new team at the reception desk.
The room I was given[More]
was terrible!...when I looked out of the full sized window, I have more than 30 apartments staring into my room! I tried to change my room but, was not considered. Perhaps, to the local Chinese, privacy is not their top priority.
I am unsure if I am confident enough to recommend this hotel to my friends. [Less]
