Back again in Burnaby and stay in same Holiday Inn Express Metrotown Hotel.
Staff is friendly and warm welcome.
Room is clean and with welcome basket items.
Love to stay here!

Great IHG hotel, rooms and service was excellent. Only thing was the pool was closed and breakfast was not very good.
Bed bugs *beware* Terrible experience overall

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this Holiday Inn a few months ago while traveling for work with my kids. First, I requested a king bed as I co-sleep with my children, but was told they couldn’t accommodate the request due to "occupancy issues." Instead, they gave me a room with two queen beds, which made it even harder for us to manage. Also paid extra for the two queen bed room, and we stayed for two nights in total due to bad weather conditions. Kids had a very rough night with trying to sleep in separate beds.
On the morning of check-out, we discovered bed bugs in the room. I immediately recorded a video of the infestation and showed it to the staff, who promised to follow up with me. However, I never heard back from them, and the lack of communication only added to my frustration. The complete disregard for cleanliness and poor customer service was unacceptable.
Due to the emergency with my kids, I had to call my in-laws to come and help while I attended work meetings, which led to me paying extra for the additional adult in the room. However, the hotel then contacted my employer and falsely claimed that I had previously had an extra adult in my room, stating, "This is not the first time this guest has done something like this, and so from this, we are going to ask that Ms. Grewal no longer stay at our hotel." This was extremely disagreeable. This is the first time I’ve encountered an issue of this nature, and I believe it is unfair to make such an assertion without any context.
*At first, I was planning to disregard the whole situation, but after the hotel’s false claim to my employer, I felt I had no choice but to speak up. I decided to write my first-ever negative review to share my experience.*
This combination of bed bugs, poor customer service, false accusations, and lack of follow-through ruined my stay. I will never be returning to this hotel and strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere. If you value your health, peace of mind, and respect as a guest, this is not the place for you.🙏🏼

Staff is so accommodating and very supportive. Upon check in, I had some issues but resolved quickly as much as they could. I really appreciate their support.
Very comfortable and clean bedding supplies, good location, we enjoy a wonderful stay!

The hotel is located at a very convenient place integrated with a mall, restaurants, next to Skytrain, and walking distance to other shopping areas. It is considered a more affordable residential mixed commercial neighborhood. This is our first time to stay in Burnaby after several visits to other cities like Richmond, Vancouver, or Surrey in B.C.

This was the worst hotel experience that I have ever encountered. The room was wonderful but the management and security were terrible. We were staying for a hockey tournament and would never recommend this hotel to anyone staying with children. It was extremely clear that they did not want children in the hotel. We were continually watched on the security cameras. When swimming in the pool, security would continually come up and watch the children, and they were doing nothing wrong. We were told not to throw a ball in the pool and the boys stopped immediately but we continued to be watched and monitored. It was the most uncomfortable feeling; even my son expressed that it did not make him feel comfortable. When hanging out in the community room, security would just come and stand outside the door and watch. We had management walk with us from the breakfast area to the elevators, only to turn back around when we got on the elevator.
The hotel was in a wonderful location but if you are planning to stay here with a family, or children, i would recommend finding somewhere else to stay. My son and I were so uncomfortable staying here.
Based on many of the other reviews that I have read from this hotel, I'm sure that management will not own up to their behavior and will find excuses for acting they way they did. I truly hope they take the time to reflect on how they are treating people staying in the hotel.

The lament flooring was lifting in the room but the room was clean, pleasant and the bed comfortable. I was happy with the room and the buffet breakfast was probably the best I've ever seen. Lots of fruit. The location is also convenient. My only issue, is you don't feel welcome when you arrive. The main door to the hotel is locked and there is no one there. You have to ring a bell that you're not even sure works. You can see the receptionists but they don't acknowledge you when you ring the bell nor does anyone hurry over to let you in. I was left standing in the cold twice and when I was leaving I had to let in another customer who looked confused and was ringing the door bell, but no one came. I finally walked over and let him in myself. I can understand why they want the door locked but if your going to lock the door but if you're going to lock your customers out, have someone there to let them in or at the very lest put a speaker by the bell so the receptionist can at the very least acknowledge your presence and assure you someone will be there shortly!

This was our second stay at this property and it is my new favorite in the Vancouver area. It is conveniently located to the things we are interested in and the staff is top notch. The rooms could use a tiny bit of spiffing up but not enough that it detracted from our enjoyment of the room.

Pleasant stay. Welcome basket in the room with some sweets and warm hand written card.
Lovely staff and also comfortable room. Will be back again.
