We have stayed a few times here and absolutely loved it but this last occasion was a big disappointment. We brought our friends for a birthday treat on us because we had such good memories of it but when we arrived and met our friends in the reception area. We ordered some cappuccino but was told that the machine was not on. I asked why and was told that the staff were not trained. Our friends room was freezing cold and ours was too hot and we were unable to figure out the control panel. In the evening we went up to have a drink at Beckett bar and it was closed so went downstairs instead. I ordered a G&T which is pretty standard and was told there was no tonic. Staff did not have a friendly demeanour and didn’t even say sorry about that. I also asked if I could have a couple of mugs for my coffee in the room which staff happily gave me on my previous visit but was told no, you dont have any mugs. I think staff gave me “staff” mugs before but the point is that staff would have gone above and beyond in the past and could not do enough to make your stay the best it could be. I don’t know what’s gone wrong but I had been singing the praises of indigo hotel to my friends and it was a long way from where it was previously.

Stayed here for one night as a short break to visit Exeter. It was an excellent stay. The hotel was very clean, very stylish, right in the centre of Exeter and the bar was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This has been one of my best hotel experiences for a long time and it was great value. Thank you Hotel Indigo Exeter.

The hotel is lovely- decor and rooms good. Pleasant staff. Would benefit from more attention to detail - room was left unmade up on one occasion and breakfast selection was tired. Avoid the waffle unless you like pre-made and super sweet. Would return but would appreciate the staff paying attention to the feedback (also provided on many occasions by colleagues; this is the hotel used by the company)

Reward points are missing - again.
I have been staying at quite a few different IHG hotels in 2024 and I don't know if it's a coincidence or what, but my reward points are missing again after a stay at the Indigo. Third time in the last 6 months (including twice in the last month). It only seems to happen at the Indigo Exeter. Perhaps I'm just unlucky - but I have seen other reviews reporting exactly the same recently, after a stay in the same hotel. Let's hope it's only a glitch.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Indigo. The staff at reception were very welcoming on arrival. The room was a good size and tastefully decorated to go with the style of the hotel. The breakfast in the morning was tasty with the option of ordering from a menu a nice change to the usual self service buffet. It's location is perfect for visiting the Christmas market, although unfortunately there is no parking so we had to park in Princesshay 3 car park where it was £18 for 24 hours.
The only negative part of our stay was that there were many rooms marked with Private which I can only assume are for linen storage etc. Our room was opposite two of these plus we were next to a door for stairs. We were awoken by presumably members of staff talking loudly and doors constantly slamming shut from 5am.
Despite the early morning wake up, we would stay here again if we visit Exeter in the future.

I stay at this hotel several times a year and always find it a perfect bolt hole in the centre of Exeter. I shall be back in the spring.

Art deco in this historic former drapery. Beautifully renovated . Friendly staff should be commended as very busy Christmas Saturday.
Paid more for premium room , loved the amenities, style and comfort!

The nearest car park is 5-7 min walk, which is fine if its not raining.
Reception staff were very efficient and helpful and checked us in quickly.
The room we had, 604, was small and attractive in the hotel design theme. Bed very comfy, room was quiet all night, has a fridge for milk and water, all nice.
On the down side; no opening window in the room and although the air-con worked it was very slow to do anything and the bathroom extraction as in most hotel rooms is under powered so you steam up quickly with two people showering, no heated mirror and its like a sauna! Also no heated towel rail, ok for one night but if they want you to reuse towels then you need to dry them for the next night.
The walk -in shower glass screen is too small to contain shower water so its almost impossible to keep the floor dry which only adds to the sauna experience!
We had drinks in the lobby bar which looks nice but on a winter day its quite draughty with the main entrance door opening straight to outside. The bar person was poor and seemed very inexperienced which was a bit of a let down. Hotel location is perfect for shopping or any city centre activity. I would stay again.

You never credited my stay points - i have called the hotel 4 maybe 5 times and despite promises nothing has happened?
You have credited my stay as non-qualifying - why?
Each time I have called in the last month I am passed from pillar to post and made promises and a call back but nothing.

Wonderful Hotel!Would definitely recommend.
Staff on desk were very professional and friendly..lovely touch to be given a free drink voucher whilst getting room ready.

A wonderful stay! A great room, very comfortable. Tasty food, very helpful staff, excellent location. All in all, we couldn’t fault it. We will most certainly be returning.
