Can't upgrade at checkin

Was told by front desk that they cannot honor upgrade request at checkin. Must do it when making reservation.
Also the carpeted ramp down to the elevator makes it hard to navigate with a loaded luggage cart.

I requested an upgrade when checking in. Was told I couldn't request at check in, it has to be requested when making the reservation, which makes no sense.
Not sure what the Voco concept is trying to be. Maybe hip and modern but doesn't really pull it off. Looked like it had a nice bar and pool area, but we went out to meet friends so didn't take advantage.
There is a carpeted ramp down to the elevators. We used a luggage cart when going to the elevators. On check out we made a couple of trips without a luggage rack. The ramp is steep enough that it would have been pretty hard pushing a loaded luggage rack up the ramp.

Bad experience
They placed a used water bottle in my room, and when I requested a replacement, they sent another used one. I lost some personal belongings, and when I complained to the receptionist, they told me I need to file the complaint with the manager tomorrow. and no action was taken

We like this hotel for several reasons. Pricing and location. Rooms are good size as well. They have coffee in room.

Everything about this place was fantastic. The space was clean and decorated very nicely. Staff was super helpful and nice. The GM was also the biggest help for all of our needs regarding our room block for our wedding guests. Would recommend this place to everyone!
Voco Laguna Hills is a great place to stay and offers all a guest could desire

Came for a wedding weekend was treated kindly by staff from beginning to end room was clean and plenty of activities to enjoy at the hotel and nearby. Recommend anyone staying in the area or Laguna Beach check it out

Ronnie and his staff were truly amazing to me and my guests. We were working with Ronnie on our wedding room block and he went above and beyond with the service he provided. His staff was truly amazing and warm. All of our guests loved the property and the amenities. I also heard the food was amazing!
The Epoch Times in Lobby

I was shocked to see many copies of the fringe newspaper The Epoch Times prominently displayed on the check-in counter in the front lobby during our recent stay. From Wikipedia: The Epoch Times is a far-right international multi-language newspaper and media company affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement.
Lovely upgrades- always a lovely stay.

This hotel has recently been updated and has had a change of ownership. It’s still a wonderful hotel and always go to for us when we’re in the area. The location is convenient and close to the freeway. Staff is always friendly. Sleep is always good. We will definitely be back.

Awesome crew and great service. Our stay was great too. The food at breakfast was taste good also. I really recommend this hotel. I will rate 5 star for this hotel.
My Stay Never Disappoints

I stay at this hotel approximately 24 days a year, so I have an expert opinion of this location. I can tell you the customer service and managment of this hotel has exponentially improved over the past year or so and I think they have dialed it better than most 4 or 5 star hotels. Ronnie and his team always ensure a comfortable stay. The newly remodeled rooms are beautiful, and the amenities provided extend luxury to over-all value. I appreciate the complimentary filtered water and access to unlimited refills. I love the Apotheke products and fact I get to use liquid hand soap and shower gel (over drying bar soap). I forgot my conditioner once and was forced to use this brand and was pleasantly surprised, so now it's not a big deal if I forget to pack my conditioner. I really love the added touch of an espresso maker (who does this??!!!) and in-room refrigerator. Towels are great. Bed/pillows are great. I even appreciate the fact they keep their hand sanitizers full by the elevators and check-in desk. Any issue I have, they genuinely go out of their way to address it. I absolutely love this place and each experience!
