The bathroom door was broken, the TV wasn't working it was displaying URL server not available. The lift was scary to use I opted to use the stairs. I could hear the other guests getting ready for a night out, luckily I had my earplugs. The bed was comfortable, had a nice view from the 6th floor, the breakfast was good had a good range of options. The staff are excellent as they tried their best to help. Location is good if you want to explore Birmingham.

Basic hotel, close to the city centre, 10 minute walk from the train station.
Rooms dated and need re decorating, edges of wallpaper lifting, carpets thin.
Limited choice with hot breakfast. Only bacon, egg, beans and sausages on offer.
Staff give meaning to the expression 'warm welcome'

This is a Holiday Inn Express and as such it has a similar style (rooms, breakfast) to many others. It's what you expect and is clean and comfortable.
But at this one the staff are exceptional. Light-hearted, natural and still professional, they clearly enjoy their work and work as a team.
Even the little things like the note giving breakfast and check-out times and saying that they want you to enjoy your stay sounds as though they actually mean it!
And there's a little quirk when you check in in the form of a spinning wheel. I didn't look at the prizes on offer, as I wasn't wearing my glasses. I doubt there is a round the world trip, but I won a drinks voucher which was fine by me.
Large hotels can be impersonal and cold, which is fine when you want that. This one makes you feel welcome even when you're only looking for a place to sleep.

Was a nice room and bathroom. But smelt of cigarettes in the bathroom. Also tv was not working. Staff were great and breakfast was also very nice

Surely in this day and age it must be possible to produce a cooked breakfast that isn't just a bog standard fry up.
Excellent, clean. But parking expensive.

We had a lovely overnight stay. Perfectly clean and comfortable. The breakfast was nice, but was really busy, so I didn’t get all I wanted. Biggest gripe was the promised parking discount wasn’t applied, even though we supplied our details as we left.

We booked this hotel due to its close proximity to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where our daughter had an appointment. On check in the hotel receptionist intimated that if we had booked in my daughter’s name there may have been a discounted rate. I would explore this option in future.
The menu was very limited, we were under the impression that there would be a full menu after 5:30 but this wasn’t the case (we did ask). We were given the limited snack menu which didn’t contain children’s meals. Luckily there are a range of shops (Tesco express, sainsbury’s local and co-op) nearby where we could purchase super noodles.
The breakfast range was great with a good selection of gluten free but as we didn’t get down until 9:15 there was very little left. I would advise going down earlier than this to get the full benefit.

Service was amazing! Room was alright bed was a bit small compared to what I’ve had previously. Breakfast options were limited, but decent. Nevertheless, the service was excellent
