How can I redeem points (or a combination of points and cash) for a car reservation?
You may redeem your points or a combination of points and cash for car rentals for domestic and international airport locations by visiting ihgrewardsclub.com/redeem. Log-in to your account and click on the Cars Anywhere hyperlink. Car rentals are subject to availability and may not be available in certain locations or at certain times. Car rentals are only available at airport locations. One way rentals are not permitted.
The IHG® Rewards Club Customer Care Centers are unable to redeem your points for Cars Anywhere rentals at this time.
What is the minimum number of points needed to redeem for a reservation?
Members must redeem a minimum of 5,000 points per reservation.
Are there blackout dates?
There are no blackout dates with Cars Anywhere. While more points may be required for high-demand or peak season car rentals, if there is car available, you can redeem points, or a combination of points and cash, for your reservation.
Who can I contact with general questions about IHG Cars Anywhere?
You can contact Cars Anywhere at 1-866-923-2587 within the United States. Outside the United States, call 1-208-429-5489. Hours of operation are: 8am to 8pm Central Time, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm Central Time, Saturday. Customer Service is closed on Sundays and on the following days: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
Can I earn points for booking car awards?
Redemptions for car awards may be eligible for point accrual, subject to the policies of the car rental company.
Can I change my car award reservation?
Changes may be made by calling Cars Anywhere customer service. All changes are subject to availability and the policies of the car rental company. In some instances, changes will not be available or permitted. Changes may not be made 24 hours prior to pick-up. Changes are subject to a $35USD change fee per car rental reservation in addition to any penalties charged by the rental car company. Change fees and penalties must be paid for with a major credit card. Change fees are subject to change without notice. Changes may also be subject to additional fees and/or additional charges for each rental day as advised in the policy information of the car rental company. Payment for such additional fees and/or additional charges must be made in currency, not points via a major credit card or similar form of payment, as required by the rental car company. In some instances, changes will not be available or permitted. To make a change, call Cars Anywhere customer service at 1-866-923-2587 within the United States or 1-208-429-5489 outside the United States, during scheduled hours of operation.
Can I cancel my car award reservation?
Car reservations may be cancelled subject to the policies of the car rental company by calling Cars Anywhere customer service. In some instances, cancellations and changes will not be available or permitted. Cancellations and changes cannot be made within 24 hours of scheduled pick-up. There is a $35 cancellation fee per reservation in addition to any penalties charged by the rental car company. Change fees are subject to change without notice. All penalties and/or fees must be paid with a major credit card. Refunds, when available, will be made in the original form of payment less any fees and charges where applicable.
How do I know what the cancellation policy is for a car reservation?
On the Review page, Purchase page, or Confirmation page, look for “Policies” near the bottom of the page and click on “View.” This link also appears on your confirmation email.
What happens if I do not show up for my car rental reservation?
Failure to show for your reservation will result in cancellation of your reservation. Neither points nor money will be refunded.
What if I have started my car rental and I need to shorten it?
You may shorten your car rental. However, once your car rental has begun, points may not be redeposited into your account and no refunds are permitted.
What if I have started my car rental and I need extend it?
To extend your car rental, you have two options. 1) You may go here to book additional rental days under a new reservation using points or 2) You may contact the car rental company directly to extend your car rental, subject to availability, using a major credit card. Car rental companies will not be able to accept points as a form of payment. In both of the above options, car rental companies may require you to return the car and pick up a car under the new reservation.
Can I add additional drivers, car seats, GPS, and other optional items to my car rental reservation?
Optional items for your car rental reservation are not available through Cars Anywhere and are not eligible for point redemption. To purchase car rental add-ons, contact the car rental company directly. For international car rentals, insurance and liability are included in the mileage price. Please view “Rate details” on the Review Page to review the included coverage.
Can I transfer my car award reservation to someone else?
Once purchased, car rentals cannot be transferred to anyone else.
Can I call my Customer Service for Cars Anywhere to redeem my points over the phone?
IHG® Rewards Club members may only redeem for car online through the website located here.
Can I use multiple accounts to make a booking?
No, each redemption must be made from a single account.
What major credit cards are accepted?
Major credit cards that are accepted include Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Diners Club, and American Express. For expenses payable to the car rental company, contact the rental car company directly to determine which forms of payment are accepted. Each individual car rental company establishes which forms of payment are accepted.
Will I need to pay taxes on the money portion of my points + cash award?
Taxes and fees are included in the points + cash price displayed. Incidentals and optional items are not included in the prices displayed, and are not eligible for point redemption or points + cash redemption. To purchase incidentals for your stay, contact the rental car company directly. Such incidentals include, but are not limited to, insurance waivers, additional insurance, fuel, additional or underage drivers, special equipment, or car class upgrades. Changes may also be subject to additional fees and/or additional charges for each rental day as advised in the policy information of the car rental company. Payment for such additional fees and/or additional charges must be made in currency, not points via a major credit card or similar form of payment, as required by the car rental company.
Can I use points to cover the cost of any change fees if I change my travel plans?
Points may only be used for the initial car rental reservation. Any service charges, change fees, cost differences, upgrades, additional taxes, or other optional fees must be paid for in currency via a major credit card or similar form of payment, as required by the rental car rental company.
How will charges appear on my credit card statement?
Any charges incurred will appear on your statement as “tripcharges.com”.
How will the deduction of points appear on my IHG® Rewards Club account for a Cars Anywhere redemption?
A points deduction will appear as “cars anywhere redemption” within account management on ihgrewardsclub.com.
