Bobby Dodd Stadium at historic Grant Field is an impressive site, both for fans of football and for those who don't know a field goal from a field pea. While the stadium is probably best known as the home of Georgia Tech's “Rambling Wreck” football team, the stadium is an integral part of campus life at Georgia Tech. It frequently hosts special school events, concerts, and more.
As the oldest stadium in Division I football, Bobby Dodd Stadium has a storied history gained over decades of use—and is worth experiencing firsthand. Like much of Atlanta itself, the stadium retains old-school charm while offering modern amenities. Because the stadium was originally built in 1913, before many technological advances in construction, it follows the natural grade of the land. However, because of expansions over the years, the venue can now hold 55,000 fans.
Visiting Bobby Dodd Stadium
Opening times vary depending on event and campus schedules. The official website is a great resource to see when the facility will be open, and what events are being held there.
Bobby Dodd Stadium is located on the east side of the Georgia Tech campus, with easy access to Interstate 75 and Interstate 85.
Because it's such a popular spot, there is plenty of public train and bus service to the field, so you can avoid the car traffic. MARTA — Atlanta's train and bus line system—has several convenient nearby stations and stops.
If you don't want to take MARTA, most taxis service the area, and a number of private shuttles run to and from the hotels near Bobby Dodd Stadium.
There’s also a huge variety of dining options, so you can get something to eat before or after the event. While there are more refined dining spots within walking distance, The Varsity is a regular stop for locals and visiting sports fans. The fast food restaurant is perhaps the most famous eatery in Atlanta.
If you're attending a day-time event at the field and are looking for something to do before or after, you can turn the excursion into a day trip by visiting the nearby Georgia Aquarium or Atlanta Zoo.
Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown is conveniently located near exciting area attractions, world-class shopping and fantastic restaurants. Immediate highway access or a few short steps to the MARTA subway system offers quick transportation options to many areas of the city. If you choose to stay on site, we offer delicious cuisine, stunning city views and a refreshing outdoor pool for your enjoyment.

I booked a room with a view and[More]
was not disappointed. Even though it was a double room, we were only provided towels and coffee for one. That was quickly put right with a call to housekeeping. Coffee in the room is nice, but the free, self serve coffee downstairs on the way out is a great amenity. There were staff members all through the lobby, welcoming guests, adding a friendly welcome with a sense of security. I didn't have a car, so I can't speak to parking. Overall, a very nice experience. [Less]
We stayed at Hotel Indigo for the recent Jeff Foxworthy concert at the Fox Theatre. Everything was awesome. We knew in advance that the bathrooms were small, so we weren't surprised. It was ok[More]
because we understood the limitations in renovating a historic building. We were disappointed that there wasn't a mini-fridge. (would be the only real change I would make) We were in a corner room with awesome views of the Fox. We will definitely return to Hotel Indigo next time we are downtown for an event at the Fox. [Less]
