Located in the bustling metropolis of East Rutherford, New Jersey, MetLife Stadium is the only NFL stadium that is home to two teams: the New York Jets and the New York Giants.
In addition to being the home of two of the NFL's most popular teams, MetLife Stadium routinely hosts famous singers, musicians, and outdoor concerts by artists like Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, and many more.
MetLife Stadium cost $1.6 billion to construct, making it the most expensive sports arena ever built. Subsequently, it has the highest fan capacity in the NFL, seating 82,566 people per game.
In February 2014, MetLife stadium became the first cold weather stadium without a domed roof to host the Super Bowl Championship game between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.
Visiting MetLife Stadium
MetLife Stadium is conveniently located in the New Jersey suburbs and is only a thirty minute drive from Manhattan. To reach the MetLife by car, take Exit 16W off of the New Jersey Turnpike, and the stadium is right off of the exit.
Because the arena is almost always sold out, it is advisable to take public transportation to reach MetLife. Bus service to and from the stadium and the Port Authority Bus Terminal is provided by Coach USA. Alternatively, the Meadowlands Rail Line offers service on game days between the Meadowlands Station and Hoboken Terminal. To better serve fans coming from New Jersey and New York, the train has stops in Newark and New Jersey.
If attending an event at MetLife is not in the cards, stadium officials encourage fans to take an individual or group tour of the arena. Because individual tours are infrequently held, fans should visit the MetLife Stadium website for specific dates and information.
Group tours occur every Monday through Friday at 10 AM, 1 PM, and 4 PM. Although fans can purchase tickets the day of the tour, the stadium encourages visitors to purchase tickets in advance. Young children, those under the age of 4, are admitted for free.
The tour of MetLife Stadium is approximately 90 minutes and provides visitors with an in-depth look at the inner workings of the facility. The tour includes access to the Press Box/Lounge, Field, Mezzanine Level Club, the Interview Room, and much more.
