History reigns supreme in the 2,000-year-old German city of Frankfurt, best known for its dominant skyline punctuated by Saint Bartholomeus Cathedral, a structure destroyed and rebuilt twice since it's original construction. As the largest city in the German state of Hesse, Frankfurt is reknown as the business and financial center of the area; however its tourism opportunities and ample scenery counterbalance the outwardly professional persona. Book your stay at one of IHG's area Frankfurt hotels and wander the banks of the river Main as you plan your vacation in the heart of Germany.
Have a history buff in the family? Take a trip to Römerberg, the old city center of Frankfurt, which boasts a number of buildings dating back to the 14th and 15th century. After visiting the cathedral, drop by the Archäologische Garten where you can see ancient Roman remains and a number of other ancient artifacts. After wandering through the Römerberg, stroll toward the Eiserner Steg (iron bridge), the best-known pedestrian bridge in Frankfurt, for picturesque views of the Main river and the city skyline.
Those seeking food and replenishment after a long day touring the sites should head to Sachsenhausen, an area known for its historic pubs and restaurant options. Another area of notable dining is the Fressgass, which hosts many cafes and restaurants. For more refined dining, a quick trip into the city center provides many upscale restaurants catering to the many business travelers.
An adventure in Frankfurt calls for clean and comfortable lodging options to complement your vacation. Look to one of IHG's hotels in Frankfurt for the finest accommodations located in a variety of locations providing a room near your destination. + View More - View Less

A new hotel in one of the cities in Germany that we are always spending a lot of time in? We had to check it out!!! Conveniently located within (a less than ten minute) walking distance from the[More]
city’s Hauptbahnhof (the central railway station) as well as only a few minutes more away from the main theatres and the shopping district, this Holiday Inn really filled a gap on the map! It also is very green – as most modern Holiday Inns are, referring to the color here… starting at the end of this stay: The check-out was very friendly and we were granted a late one, being a Platinum Member of IHG Rewards. A late breakfast on that Sunday morning was delicious with hot items almost made to order – although I overheard the chef in the open kitchen complaining about having to make more scrambled eggs, bacon etc. (after I helped myself to both). He did only make a small portion just before, which definitely added big-time to its taste – as it was really well prepared and hot!!! Haven‘t had that in a hotel for a very long time…) – so I smiled to the complaint! The bread was fresh, again something that can’t be taken for granted in Germany on a Sunday! We did enjoy a good night’s sleep, we were really tired! With an open window (something we are insisting on, when staying anywhere in the world) it was rather noisy with police-cars, ambulances and fire engines chasing along the main street again and again… We did make a reservation for a standard room and the room felt pretty standard – which was absolutely all right for us, since we did just stay one night. But the main lamp was not working properly and there was a problem with the flushing water in the toilet, which did not stop to run unless you pressed the button over and over again. For my taste, the interior decoration was too much felt-based (the chairs, part of the bed…). The Check-in on Saturday afternoon was somewhat strange as I wasn’t sure, if the employee did really know, what he was saying to me in German (my mother tongue, obviously not his…) but he tried to be friendly anyhow.
