I wrote this complaint shortly after checking into this terrible place. I don't have the energy to rewrite it:
I am in the middle of my stay at your Candlewood property in Naperville, Ill.
It's awful. No one was at the front desk for 5 minutes when we arrived. When he did show up, Leo (his name on his shirt) said he had canceled our reservation. Why he would have done so is beyond me, especially since the reservation agent knew we were driving and we were at least 3-4 hours away; she made specific note of that and we arrived in that time frame.
I suggested to Leo that he could uncancel it and he did, but it better not show up as a second charge on my credit card.
Second, your reservation agent and I had a lengthy conversation about whether a breakfast was offered, and it was not. She knew I was comparing your property to a Wyndham Hawthorn that did offer one and at which I stayed at last week.
Well, imagine our surprise when we drive up to Candlewood and find it's an architectural carbon copy of the Wyndham - except with inferior services. Not only no breakfast, but the AC and frig make more racket that theirs did, you provide fewer pillows and linens and only 2 bags of coffee; a lousy brand and one being decaf that I don't drink.
In short, you completely failed a truly blind taste test of the exact same product. I'd call you up and tell you but I'm too tired to talk on the phone. I have even less energy to talk to Leo downstairs.
Or wherever he is.
Addendum: The next day, my wife found someone's hairpin on the nightstand. The paper towels were humid and couldn't be used on the roller. And a survey indicated free coffee outside of the room that was nowhere to be found.

I have found this property to generally be adequate for my needs. But during this stay I hit a brick wall that I did not appreciate.
I typically arrive after 9pm. The parking lot is pretty full so I most likely have to find a spot pretty far from the building. Not a problem, It just means i will have to carry my things farther.
This night it was raining, about 10pm, extra full lot. I eventually make it to the lobby, check in and am given a parking pass to put in my car dash. I said to the guy checking me in that I did not want to have to go all the way back to my car in the rain to put a pass in it since my vehicles information was on my detail sheet. He insisted saying otherwise it might get towed. So I left my things in the lobby which is the most sketchy part of this hotel and complied.
Sadly I won't stay here again unless I have to.
