An old classic in need of a refresh.

The first international hotel built n Muscat, it is now in need of an urgent refresh.The rooms are old and small, there is no kids club and the playground have limited timings (closed at 6, when it was finally possible to use it due to the daily heat). The pool is very nice, as is the food a Trader's Vic

Staff are the best

The quality of stay was good but not satisfactory...Should be updated...The rooms,toilets and surroundings were outdated and should be refurbished...The food options should be better and value for money...

Services are really bad

I cannot imagine this is Intercontinental chain because when you think about the Intercontinental the first thing will come in your mind is services which is not available i this hotel and not caring attitude at all except breakfast was good and staff was also good.

Needs new management and training for staff

This hotel is ok, but definitely not great. The staff didn't seem to know what was going on. When I made the reservation I was asked what time I would be checking in. I arrived 1.5 hours late and my room still had not been cleaned. I was told no baby cribs were available that day even though it was 3:30 in the afternoon. Instead they offered to bring an extra bed. When I arrived in the room, there was already a crib present. Then the extra bed arrived.... Like I said, no one new what was going on. The toilet didn't flush. The concierge never answered the phone and wasn't at the desk. The breakfast was ok, but not great. What was nice about his hotel was their pool. Really good for kids. The beach is right outside the gate of the pool, so really convenient, however, the gate closes and is locked at 7pm, so no night walks on the beach. There is also a really nice spa and exercise room attached to the hotel. It is a private health club but hotel guests have access. There is also a restaurant (Senior Pico) in the hotel that has been closed for 3 years, but is still listed in their welcome guide. Really? Time to update! Not the typical Intercontinental experience, but also cheaper than the Crowne Plaza in Muscat. Also, compared to the Crowne Plaza beach, the Intercontinental has easier beach access. The CP has several steps to go down, so with small children it can be challenging. But the CP has a quiet private beach. The Inter shares a public beach, but it is not crowded.

Clearly there was a lapse of communication in regards to the Baby Crib/ Extra bed and the team wanted to ensure you have the bedding for your family as requested. We appreciate your comments on the Senior Pico which has been converted years ago as private venue however maintaining the venue name. Great to learn from you that your family enjoyed the leisure facilities and the gate to the public beach is closed after 7 pm to ensure our guests are remaining in an undisturbed safe environment. Comfortable extended stay

I had an excellent stay in a room with a beautiful sea view. While the rooms were a bit dated, the staff were always pleasant and accommodating towards our unique situation. I especially enjoyed the extensive breakfast selection, the fitness facilities and the proximity to the beach.

old rooms and infected with fungus and mould

Hotel needs renovation! It has not changed since the first time I stayed there over 15 years ago. My clothes and all personal belongings were infected with mould and fungus and it was not the first time it happened. Please update your hotel. It's a shame for such a beautiful location!
