Insider Tips

Don't call it Frisco!

San Francisco is a great diverse city, with its people from all parts of the world. We're friendly and enjoy showing off our city, don't hesitate to ask anyone for directions!
As splendid as when it opened in 1926, Mark Hopkins is one of the city’s finest historic San Francisco luxury hotels. It’s ideally located at the crossing of three cable car lines, just minutes from Union Square. Each suite is furnished in a unique, stately style. Breathtaking views of San Francisco combine with fine dining and a signature 100 Martini menu at Top of the Mark restaurant. Described when it opened as ‘architecturally perfect’, this San Francisco luxury hotel remains so today.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another fantastic visit I use a lot of hotels in the USA, Europe and Asia. What a fantastic hotel this is and want to say thank you to all the staff for making me feel so welcome once again. The overall service was excellent. A special thank you must go to Anna in the club lounge. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to and Bay Area visitor. 03 March 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Husband won't stay anyplace else in San Francisco What matters is how the Mark Hopkins feels. And I have to rely on my husband for this because he needs to be here. Moreover, my husband has always asked for the same room since our first visit, the middle of last year. The room is not particularly glamorous or large or modern; it accommodates us on a much deeper level. My husband has two needs: to go up high and to see out. Even before we have unpacked, he takes his seat by the window, then stands and raises the casement to hear the city. Nothing eles matters for my husband. Were it not for me, he'd never leave the room. He would sit all day listening to the city and reading his book. I guess I would have to say my husband and I both feel a profound sense of peace as we walk through the door of our room and look out at the City. We feel the same thing at the same time, for the first time in our 32 years of marriage. And the room service hamburgers are divine too. My husband loves seeing the cart covered with white linen come through the door with the steaming plates. And the server is always gracious and generous. 02 March 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DICK Our recent experience, unlike previous visits with rooms on 6th and 7th floors ,was a disappointment in that the room1222 was not up to par!! King mattress was old and indented from past use, cold water faucet not working properly, shower nozzle stuck in high volume setting, TV wires required shaking to get tv to work. We were very busy and left early so did not take time to report these issues or request another room. Staff as usual was very friendly and welcoming especially front desk and valets. Confused re breakfast which we usually have included in room rate. 01 March 2015
