Insider Tips

Don't call it Frisco!

San Francisco is a great diverse city, with its people from all parts of the world. We're friendly and enjoy showing off our city, don't hesitate to ask anyone for directions!
As splendid as when it opened in 1926, Mark Hopkins is one of the city’s finest historic San Francisco luxury hotels. It’s ideally located at the crossing of three cable car lines, just minutes from Union Square. Each suite is furnished in a unique, stately style. Breathtaking views of San Francisco combine with fine dining and a signature 100 Martini menu at Top of the Mark restaurant. Described when it opened as ‘architecturally perfect’, this San Francisco luxury hotel remains so today.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overall, a yawn Iconic location. Ordinary bar. Staff very attentive and courteous, but the facility itself does not make the grade for overall value in my travel preferences 24 April 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Staff We stayed here for 4 days . The location is the BEST ....close to cable car and wonderful views. We enjoy going to the Top of the Mark as it has a wonderful view. George is a very good bar tender. We didn't care for the poetry readings by the over the hill Hippies. Doesn't go with the class of the hotel and clients. Your cover charge is a bit much for guests staying in the hotel. 23 April 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quick wedding weekend We were in town for a wedding, the bride and groom had reserved a block of rooms for guests at the Mark Hopkins. It was a quick trip but we really enjoyed ourselves. Having never been to San Francisco before the location was fantastic. We walked to the wharf, walked through China town, explored several of the restaurants that are near by. Being there for a wedding I needed 2 things - a manicure and clothes pressed. I contacted the concierge prior to check in and they were extremely helpful. The mani turned out great (the place they recommended was only 2 blocks away) and so did the clothes. The only downside to the hotel is that it's at the TOP of Nob Hill and that last block (depending on which direction you are coming from) can be brutal for an out of shape flat lander like me. But I sure did feel like I didn't need the gym after that long weekend. We would absolutely stay there again. 23 April 2015
