We had a wonderful stay. The staff was wonderful, the room luxurious, and the location perfect for all sorts of activities.
We would stay again with out a doubt!

This is literally 2 minutes walk from Union Square, yet far enough away from the noisy hustle and bustle of the area. The staff were inviting, very courteous, and concierge knowledgable and proactive. I booked a corner room with floor to ceiling glass on two walls, it had a nice view and was very light and open. It was also a great size, which somewhat seems to be a signature of Intercontinental hotels in my experience. I was very disappointed that there was a charge for wifi. Intercontinental San Francisco needs to get up to speed on this and match other hotels with free wifi. This is available in other hotels of the same brand. I do highly recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay here again because of service and position. I wish I had the time to try out their Michelin starred restaurant Luce.. make sure you do!

...the Mark Hopkins on Nob Hill and the Intercontinental on Howard are very well cmanaged. The staff is well-trained. The amenities are beyond the competition. We stay at one of these hotels 4-5 times each year. Never, ever disappointed, from the doorman on entry to the doorman on departure, and everything in between.

The main problem with the room is the TV and cable. I had an executive room. The TV had no jack to plug in my laptop, music and TV.
Then the TV cable system is horrible with bad information and hard to sue. It really was a surprise in such an expensive hotel.
That was the bad part and is unacceptable at such a world class hotel. Otherwise the room was very good.

We had stayed here before and loved it! The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. It was clean and the staff was very professional. We came back and it was even better!!
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to be treated like a VIP - much better than other comparable properties for this price range.
also - Jasmine was very HELPFUL !! She handled all my concerns promptly and professionally. Thank YOU!

This hotel is perfect for the Folsom Street Fair and RealBad party for both amenities and location. Great lobby bar to meet up with friends, near MUNI and Bart station. The parking fee seems a little hight at $54 a night but if you use public transportation then this is no problem.

Stayed on the 28th floor with great views. Very clean and spacious room. Walked to Giants game. Bellhop and Concierge were attentive, informed and congenial. Would come back to this hotel in future.

In spyte of our request a t the time of booking months ago, there was no room with a walk in shower reserved.
The staff have no idea which rooms do have a walk in shower.
We do not need a room for handicapped people but only a room without a tub but a low threshold to the shower. After 3 attemps we had the desired room.
At check in they did not offer us the package deal with parking and breakfast: we accidently found out.
There is no recognition with the fact that we stay 8 nights in the hotel. For instance, no free bottle of water at the day of arrival.
We face this attitude already 4 years when we visit SFO.
We did not experience special attention of the fact that I'm a Platinum member of the Priority club.
After a intercontinental flyght of 11 hours you do not want to be faced with these kind of problems.

I like this hotel. It is well-located and modern. I love the sliding doors on the bathrooms, the large screens, and the bedding. The plumbing is very modern, so forget about getting a good shower (water pressure and volume are too low), but other than that it is a pleasant hotel.
I was part of a group deal invited by a large company which was using the hotel heavily. Apparently IHG hotels have the leverage to negotiate low rates that do not give their guests any credit for staying, so my stay, despite suffering the hotel, did not qualify for status. This is a terrible policy by IHG to allow it and no other hotel chain I stay at follows this practice. Even if they do not allocate points or miles, IHG corporate should acknowledge the stay and count it towards status qualification.

My wife and I spent the last 3 nights of our 5 week US vacation in the InterContinental in San Francisco, which we enjoyed immensely. A beautiful and spacious hotel; our room was clean, comfortable and very pleasing; staff were friendly and helpful, all of which is a trademark of InterContinental. Over the last 20 years I have stayed in numerous InterContinental Hotels in the USA, Europe, and Asia and Australia. This hotel is the best one I have stayed in and the reason it stands out from all the other InterContinentals is the fine dining we experienced in its Luce Restaurant and the quality of the room service cuisine. We would not only recommend this hotel to others but also suggest that InterContinental Hotels duplicate this food experience in all its other hotels.

We had a lovely weekend celebrating our son's birthday at the Intercontinental. Great location, and a comfortable room. The restaurant was a bit overpriced, but the food was good.

Nothing bad to say really. Was upgraded to a higher level room with a great view (platinum status). The front desk initially assign me to a room that was occupied. The issue was quickly resolved after I ask for a new room. Was sent a fruit basket as a result. Nice touch. Would definitely stay here on my return to SF. A lot to do around the area.

We had a one night 'date-night' stay, prior to leaving for Asia the next morning. The hotel is located just south of SF center shopping mall and adjacent Moscone West convention center - convenient to access and get to. After staying many times at the W Hotel nearby, I will now choose to stay here since it a more sophisticated and comfortable environment as well. We dined in at the michelin-star LUCE restaurant and had the fabulous tasting menu - Highly recommended if you want to splurge. As with other Intercontinental hotels, the bed was very firm with nice crisp linens. There's also a very nice gym and indoor pool to relax in. Too bad that parking is $57.... park in Mission Street garage for half that price, just adjacent.

First time visit to this property. It was an easy commute on BART between airport and Powell St stop with a short 4 block walk to the hotel. Easy access to restaurants and shopping. The rooms were well-kept, clean and comfortable and the beds were outstanding with high quality pillows. Restaurant and bar were very good with pricing about what you would expect in a quality hotel in San Fran. The fitness center was much better than I expected and had a wide variety of weights and machines. Pool and spa were great. The concierge service was spot on with food recommendations. (Press Club and Amber India are two notables in easy walking distance).
We had some minor hick-ups booking a small meeting room, which worked out just fine. Charges for internet in the meeting room were ridiculous (especially since we were staying at the hotel with free internet and it required you to block the internet in meeting room in order to charge us) so we just connected via our cellular router. Bring your own coffee as well as the charge for coffee for a small group (4) was too high ($100/gal).
Overall, this was an excellent place to do business and any concerns were quickly resolved.

I stayed at this property twice, once for a few nights and then another three nights. We had booked a king junior corner suite, which was supposed to have amazing city views. The first time checking in on vacation, we were on the 18th floor, which had amazing views. The second time, we were on the 11th floor, with no other availability. When we checked in to the same king junior corner suite, we were extremely displeased to have a view of a parking lot and giant AC/heater units from the complex next door. The room was the same price, but had zero views. I would rather have had a room with no views for less price. I think the value for that was not even worth the second stay, would have rather stayed at another property.
I do have to say the staff at the concierge were fantastic in helping book some local excursions, and the gym was very nice with new equipment.
But if you are booking and paying for a king corner suite, be up on a high floor. Otherwise you are wasting your money for an expensive room with horrendous views.

I stayed here for the first time for Gay pride. Although the location was great for me I found a few things a little less than optimal. One thing is I have stayed in many places and I do not appreciate that the frig in the room is stocked full of the items the hotel wants to sell leaving little to no room for your own items should you bring anything that needs to be refrigerated. Although I am not on any special diets or medications that require refrigeration I coiuld see this as an issue. The only other thing I would say lacks is that the rooms do not contain microwaves. Many less expensive hotel chains all have microwaves in the rooms.
