i wish I could praise this hotel, but the it was off to a very bad start. First at check in, I was told the IHG checkin system was down and would not be back in operation until an hour. When I expressed at why it would take this long, the agent noted that checkin was not until 3pm and to come back then! Really bad form to deflect by using this excuse.
While my checkin at 3pm was fine, my room smelled like vomit. I walked around the room trying to figure out where the smell was. I was also hearing drilling for the next hour in the hallway, making the smell and noise difficult to do any work. The Manager called to see if everything was ok and to apologize for the checkin issue, I told him about the noise.
After I could not figure out where the smell was from, I called the Manager and asked him to have someone investigate. The Housekeeping Manager came in and immediately smelled and knew where it was coming from and even remarked that yes, it does happen when there are no guests in the room for a while (pipes backup and smell like sewer/sulphur/rotting garbage/vomit).
For such a nice hotel, I think this is pretty poor form. I demanded to speak to the manager. Never in my years of travel have I ever had so many issues with a hotel, or even felt the need to have a manager come to discuss the matter.
While the manger did offer me the best suite in the hotel, the damage had been done and my impression had already been made. It is unfortunate that the hotel allowed these things to happen.
IHG's horrible tech, the poor handling by the agent, drilling in the hallway, a room with a direct line to the sewers. I will go elsewhere next time.

I always stay at the Yorkville Intercontinental when I am in Toronto on business which is a few times a month. In essence, this hotel has been my home away from home for the past three years.
I am very glad that this is the hotel of choice for my business dealings, for this hotel offers everything: intimate, cosy atmosphere, excellent service at the reception desk, restaurant, and room service.
The staff have gone out of their way to make me feel very welcomed and appreciated and always follow up with me while there, to ensure my comfort and happiness with service.
Joey and the crew in the kitchen do an exceptional job of ensuring delicious meals that cater to my dietary restrictions. They know my preferences and go out of their way to make sure that I'm happy with the tasty results.
I am very happy with my stays at the Intercontinental. This place and especially the staff, are Gems!

The service and staff are extremely helpful and accommodating from the initial check-in to check-out after my stay. The location is excellent for visiting many interesting neighborhoods and places of interest, e.g. museums, stores, restaurants, etc. The room is spacious, well furnished and spotless. It contains all of the items I need to make my stay more comfortable, e.g. slippers, robe, hair dryer, iron, etc.
