Dingen om te doen
DE PERFECTE DAG

OCHTEND

After a sumptuous buffet breakfast at the Parlor restaurant, we recommend a gentle 15-minute stroll to medieval St. Stephen's Cathedral. Mozart was married beneath its towering steeple, and if you climb the 343 steps you can enjoy breathtaking views over the city. The nearby Goldenes Quartier sits among the Baroque buildings of the UNESCO listed Innere Stadt, so you can spend the rest of the morning admiring the architecture and exploring the flagship stores of Prada, Louis Vuitton or Alexander McQueen.

MIDDAG

Dating from the 16th century, the expansive Naschmarkt food market has stalls and casual restaurants where you can sample local specialties or enjoy a delicious lunch. Stroll over to the museum quarter to view the work of great Austrian artists like Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt at the Leopold Museum, or cutting-edge contemporary creations at the eye catching Mumok. Afterwards, visit the nearby Neubau district to browse boutiques filled with stylish designer fashion.

AVOND

End your day with an evening performance at the Vienna State Opera or Wiener Konzerthaus, both within walking distance of the hotel. After delighting in Wagner or Verdi, you can savour Austrian fine dining at one of the excellent restaurants in the city. Ask our staff in advance to help with reservations. For dessert, try a delicious, traditional bundt cake or chocolate cake. Back at the hotel, a glass of fine Scotch whisky at the Intermezzo Bar makes a perfect nightcap.

  • Vienna is the World's Most Livable City

Vienna is one of the most liveable cities in the world. Decisive for its top position are the diverse cultural offerings, the well-developed health care system, public transport, the recreation areas and the low crime rate.

  • Some Facts and Figures

Vienna is the capital of Austria and the smallest of its nine provinces. The metropolitan area is subdivided into 23 districts and has a population of around 1.8 million. Vienna is located in the heart of Europe on the banks of the Danube. A large stretch of the city's limits is defined by the Vienna Woods providing fresh air for its inhabitants. Over 45 percent of the city’s area is accounted for by gardens, parks, forests, and woodland, another 15 percent is farmland and 5 percent water. 35 percent of all journeys in the city are by public transportation – a European record. Vienna is also the only major capital with a significant wine-growing industry – cultivating mainly white wines on some 700 hectares – within the city limits.

  • Vienna has around 700 hectares of vineyards

Vienna is the only major world capital with an extensive winegrowing industry operating within its city limits. Around 700 hectares of vineyards shape the cityscape, among which there are a few very special ones. Vienna's smallest vineyard, measuring just a few square meters, can be found near the hotel at Schwarzenbergplatz 2. Every year, the mayor of Vienna harvests the grapes in person. The 50 or so bottles of Wiener Gemischter Satz field blend in each vintage are auctioned off for charity.
