Welcome to Austin, Texas and the historic InterContinental Stephen F Austin! It is our pleasure to introduce you to some of the great places that make Austin a favorite destination world-wide. We welcome this opportunity to share our recommendations with you.

Things to do
The Perfect Day

Morning

Wake up early and begin your day with an energetic walk along the Lady Bird Lake hike and bike trail. Stroll the shops, enjoy the sights of Second Street and eat at one of the many great restaurants along the way. Stop into the Mexican Art Museum and the Jones Center for contemporary art, both on Congress Avenue near the hotel.

Afternoon

Why not go and play in Zilker Park, 358 acres in the city center. Take a ride round the park on the Zilker Zephyr miniature train, row a canoe out onto the lake or be like a local and take a dip in Barton Springs Pool. This amazing, natural spring-fed pond is three acres wide and maintains a temperature of 68 degrees F all year round, so you can swim whatever the weather. While you're here, pack in a culture fix: head to the Sculpture Garden at the south end to see works by sculptor Charles Umlauf.

Evening

Enjoy a Happy Hour cocktail while listening to live music on 6th Street. At sundown in the Summer, just a short walk away, join the thousands of people gathering at the Congress Avenue Bridge to watch the famous bats take flight. From there head to the SoCo District for your choice of some of the best dining in town. Finish a perfect night at the famous Continental Club for live bands and mingling with the locals. You might even spot a celebrity!
