We slept well in this hotel as the room was quiet. In a busy city like London this is difficult to find and is such a good feature for a centrally located hotel. The shower and bathroom in general
were also very good. The room also has a mini fridge to keep water and snacks cool (the fridge is not stocked by the hotel).
On the negative side, the wardrobe was a little small, the range of toiletries did not fit with the luxury style of the bathroom and the selection of tea provided in the room wasn't what you would expect from a four star hotel (there was no selection just Typhoo teabags).
On booking our stay, we were excited to find out that the hotel has a swimming pool and gym facilities. In the end we did not make use of these facilities as there is a charge of £3.50 to use the pool or gym. We found this a bit strange as they are on site facilities rather than third party facilities.
We paid for breakfast as part of our rate. The breakfast is really quite good with a range of hot foods, cereal, fruits and juices. It's great to be able to help yourself to smoked salmon from a buffet to have with scrambled eggs, but who cuts smoked salmon into cubes rather than thin slices?! The only real problem with breakfast is the dire coffee: it tastes of water but coats your mouth in an oily film. You can order other hot drinks from the waiter service, but we tried double espressos one morning and they were almost undrinkable too!
The hotel is not situated close to any tube station, but it is an easy 15 mins walk from King's Cross, Holborn and Russell Square. The location of the hotel makes it very suitable for activities in Bloomsbury and the West End and for the City. [Less]
