I was in Maryville to clean out my uncle's house unfortunately as we had to move him to FL. So, this was not a pleasure trip. My experience with Maryville hotels has not been the best and generally
I stay in Knoxville.
This time however with the reason, the work, etc., I really wanted to stay in Maryville/Alcoa. My father was along on this trip and wanted a much cheaper hotel. When I saw there was a Holiday Inn Express in town though, I pushed for this hotel as our stay. It was a bit more expensive, yet I imagine it was partially due to a home game for UT. I'd guess during the week or off football season it's a bit cheaper.
In my opinion it was worth the price. It was close to everything we needed to do in Maryville. Safe no matter what time we got in. We drove overnight reaching Maryville/Alcoa about 5am and the hotel managed to go ahead and accommodate us to check-in and get a few hours sleep. The staff is excellent. The breakfast not fancy, yet good and with a variety.
My only "concern" with the stay here was that I needed to do some work on this trip also and the standard wifi is definitely not up to the task. I often could not connect via wifi from our room via my mobile device or work computer. When I did connect, things took much longer. I could not use the business center computers. I didn't check either, but if there is an upgraded internet available and you're doing work, I'd advise the upgrade.
At any rate, I'll definitely be back. Great location, near good food and excellent staff. [Less]
