    Renovations made for bad experience

    Fume from the glue being used for the floor during renovations had us choking and escaping the lobby as fast as possible. Workers were all around with no fans or ventilation taking place. No apologies made for the situation and, of course, no mention or note that the hotel was under renovations at the time of the reservation. It may all be good now (the staff was nice enough) but it was overall an unpleasant experience.

    I have stayed at many Staybridge Suites, including this one in the past, but this was unacceptable. To say that you're doing a little remodeling, charge full price, and then for me to show up to find the entire place in disarray, harmful fumes in closed hallways each day, dust from sanding as we eat breakfast, and no peace of mind to be able to use the facilities I was charged for like the pool or fitness room is outrageous! I could understand if I was warned that they were doing a major overhaul, but to say "pardon our dust we're doing a little remodeling " and find this. I've been to IHG hotels that were doing "a little remodeling" where it was no big deal. This was NOT the case. This misrepresentation is completely unacceptable. I have asthma and you must be forthright with your customers. On the bright side the room was quiet for sleeping. It was just getting to and from the room and the overall condition of the hotel that was atrocious. Additionally, I had to clean the bathtub before bathing the child on the second night because the maid left dirt in it. Young children prefer baths to showers and I shouldn't have to clean the tub in order to use it. This is ridiculous. Make the beds and leave dirt in the tub, really! Yes, I tried to discuss issues with the staff and no one ever answered the phone at the desk, even for me to try to check out. I wasn't about to stand down there in fumes of volatile lacquer thinner in a confined space to try to wait to check out. On our second day the breakfast was a joke. There was no fruit, no juice either day, and just very little of anything to eat. The hard-boiled eggs were rotten! Of course, I'm not sure I would want to eat it anyway with all of the dust, but I paid the price for StayBridge because they usually have a good breakfast. I could have paid less to stay elsewhere and gone out to eat. This misrepresentation is just unconscionable. I should not have been charged full price for this abomination of a hotel.

    Unprofessional front desk help

    I was very disappointed at the way I was treated at this property. Being a Spire member I felt that my status with IHG was ignored at check in. I arrived at 11:30 am to see if I could check in, the attendant at the front desk said no rooms were ready, I understood that since I was early. But then I was told to come back at 1:30 pm and I should be able to check in then. After riding in the car for another couple of hours I can back at 1:30 and was told the rooms are not ready. I asked why and was told " I cannot make the guest leave". Then the attendant assured me that the rooms whould be ready at 3:00pm which is the posted check in time. I left and came back at 3pm sharp and low and behold my room was ready. Then later that night we were trying to take a shower and the water pressure was so low we could have just poured water out of a cup and got more pressure. The only good thing about the hotel stay was the very nice maint. person that came up and replaced both shower heads for us. But now to really make this stay a bad one, when checking out that morning I asked to change credit cards for payment and was told " We bill your card immediatly after check in". THATS BULL.
