The staff at this hotel were really friendly and helpful. Although we had a problem with the shower the staff were willing to help. I would stay there again if I ever go back to Birmingham xxx

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Winty Needs An Update
Stayed here some years ago was looking forward to returning. Slightly shocked at how worn the place was looking.
Accessible room was excellent in terms of wet room and size, room was fine but dirty walls in need of a lick of paint, the TV was very old fashioned and had a continual buzzing sound as you watched any program. Pillows were so hard gave up and went without. The desk chair was wonky and again all furniture needs updating, it was obvious that no money has been spent here for quite sometime. However the room was clean.
Food/bar area clean, air con was on and place was freezing ( not a hot day ! ) after speaking to reception they kindly turned off. TV in bar area on all the time and sport was very loud, sofa's have disappeared and been replaced by lots more tables and chairs.
Food was excellent and spoke to the chef who was very friendly and came to check if we were happy with our meals. Food seems a bit expensive as are drinks but the food was very good.
Breakfast was also very good, same chef and again lots of choice, well cooked and really lots of options. Nice environment at breakfast, staff friendly.
Staff were friendly shame the actual hotel is looking shabby and rooms no longer the great stay they were in the past.
Pillows need to be assessed as have no idea who would want brick hard pillows and need to keep an eye on temp control in bar area.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DCshaz10 Good value hotel
I booked four rooms, as we were going to the cricket approx, 5 miles away. They rooms were great value, even including the cost of the taxi's to Edgbaston. The staff sorted our taxi's as soon as we arrived, and were really pleasant and helpful.
The hotel could be better sign posted as you drive past it to get to the entrance, which even the taxi driver went past on our return. Rooms were nicer than expected, and clean, and beds really comfy. Breakfast was a bit of a let down, and could be organised better. To get to buffet you block each other and have to walk in front of other guests. On the hot buffet there is only beans

Okay, the only thing that needs to be improved is quality of some of the breakfast items.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Isok Great Service but Not so good bed
Visited the hotel on Saturday 30th August. Check in was simple and very easy. Everything was OK.
The Room had a lot of spiders and spider webs.
The Mattress had a dip which went down in the middle.
The Pillows were not good at all.
A Uncomfortable Sleep.
Other than that everything else was OK.
Staff were overall Good.
Might visit again depending on situation

we booked accessable room on our recent visit to Birmingham as a frequent visitor to your hotells your accessable rooms are of a very good standard. My visit to star city was disappointing as the accessable room did not have a walk in shower so as a wheelchair user i was unable to use the shower.
Holiday inn Star city should rectify the issue for the comfort of their disabled guests.
