Stopped by the front desk almost every day to ask them a question about local attractions, restaurants, or directions and enjoyed their friendly attitude and helpfulness. It's a Holiday Inn, so it's basic and not upscale or boutique-ish but clean and very well maintained. June 29, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and staff but uncomfortable beds Fantastic staff! Great location! Varied breakfast choices. Uncomfortable beds. Not very quiet. Our check-in was wonderful. Valet parking was full, but we were rerouted to a nearby garage that was $15 a day cheaper, so we ended up keeping the car there. The hotel front desk staff were FANTASTIC! Offered to associate our reservation with our IHG Rewards (which I'd forgotten to do), and provided many excellent suggestions for meals. Location was fantastic - walking distance to Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square and other tourist spots. Our room (family suite) was spacious and clean. Pocket door to the bathroom was unusual, but enough towels and toiletries for a family of four. Our room had two double beds and a sofa bed, and we used all of those. Very uncomfortable night's sleep - just not enough bed space for four people (2 adults, 19 year old and 14 year old - all average sized to small), and a sofa bed is never comfortable. Also, our room faced North Point Street, and there was a lot of traffic noise (including garbage trucks) early in the morning. We were at the end of a hallway, which we thought would be quiet, but we could also hear a lot of door slamming in the morning. Breakfast was average to above average. Different cereal choices (Special K with red berries!) and delicious cinnamon rolls. Lots of typical choices - biscuits, gravy, turkey sausage, muffins, toast, bagels, yogurt, apples, bananas, juices, coffee, etc. Automated pancake maker - makes pancakes as you wait - but they didn't taste very good. Scrambled eggs also tasted bad - weird texture and sometimes cold. Ran out of bacon our second day there. Breakfast only lasts until 9:30 am, which was a struggle for our teenagers. DON'T do the open air double decker bus advertised at the concierge desk. You are better off doing public transportation - get the Hop Stop app. The bus takes a LONG route around town and gets stuck in traffic (especially at the GG Bridge). They also don't tell you that MANY buses do not have LIVE GUIDES - you are given headphones to listen to a canned speech. We would consider staying here again because of the location, but only if we had enough "real" beds for each person. Sleeping comfortably is a big deal for our family! June 28, 2015

However, this Holiday Inn made us look at this chain in a complete different light. This hotel we consider more in the upper range of quality, and would definitely consider it for a longer stay. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location!!! Great location near Fisherman's Wharf! We could walk to everything we wanted to see from the Wharf to Lombard Street, Little Italy, China Town and more! We rented bikes and rode through San Francisco! The room was very clean and met our needs! Great breakfast and the service was excellent from all of the staff that we encountered! June 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Location This HIE is in a great location. Just a couple of blocks from the Wharf and easy/quick access to North Beach. The rooms are a little smaller, but that's to be expected in San Francisco. Overall, the rooms are nicely furnished and modern. The recently renovated lobby and breakfast area is outstanding. When we had breakfast in the morning, this area handled at least 100-125 people with ease. No waiting in line, tons of seating, and the tables even had power plugs if you wanted to charge your mobile device while eating. Hands down, this is the best and most modern breakfast area of any HIE I've ever stayed at. Bravo! The only downside to this outstanding hotel is the fee for parking, which is $50 a day plus tax, so you're looking at nearly $57 a day just for parking. Even though this is San Francisco, I feel like that price is too high and should be included with the price of the hotel. Other than that, this hotel is doing everything right. June 26, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by disappointed We were warmly greeted when we arrived at the front desk; but we were very disappointed when we walked into our room at the San Francisco Fisherman's wharf. I upgraded our room to a suite so that we would have plenty of room to relax and visit with our son who lives up there. I'm not sure how this room could be considered a suite; it was only one room. The valet parking was filled (which may have been a blessing since we saved $16 going around the corner to another parking structure.) . We will not be choosing this hotel again June 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by we will always try to stay here when in San Francisco Price was competitive, parking was competitive, convenient location, breakfast is a huge value. We have a large family and slept sound in our double bed queen size room. We arrived early and were allowed to check in before noon (as an IHG member), park, drop off our bags in our room and head out to site see. We were allowed late check out and keep our van parked on site until 6 pm and retrieve it as much as we wanted to go out of the area at no additional cost. Such a relief to have a safe place for our luggage and car so we could focus on our family and enjoy our stay. The breakfast is insane. 3 different types of yogurts, coffee, tea, breads, cereals, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, warm eggs/sausage/etc. Honestly we can't eat for that out in town for less than $40 so it's a huge value. Highly recommend this hotel, convenient to Fisherman's wharf and great location for hop on/hop off bus and ride the duck, trolleys, etc. Safe neighborhood, very nice. June 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Memorable Trip While this room was a little more pricey than I was hoping for, I really feel like I got great value out of it. I was traveling with 4 teenage boys and we had plenty of room for everyone. The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly. I loved being able to leave my car with the valet! We were able to walk to Fisherman's Wharf for dinner and sightsee. I was also really impressed with the breakfast buffet. There were staff members monitoring the food, making sure nothing ran out. The variety and options available were super. There was something for everyone. The beds were comfy and the hotel suite was quiet and clean! I'm hoping to return to San Francisco soon for a longer stay and would stay here again in a heartbeat! June 24, 2015
