The Romance of Xi’an is a large-scale immersive performance inspired by the city’s long history and culture. Through stage effects, lighting, multimedia and live performances, the show brings together stories spanning Banpo civilization, the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties, and the Silk Road, creating a visually engaging cultural experience.

Pagode Gigante de Ganso Selvagem

Built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda was constructed to preserve Buddhist scriptures brought back by the monk Xuanzang. It remains one of Xi’an’s most recognizable landmarks and an important symbol of Buddhist culture in ancient Chang’an. Together with Da Ci’en Temple and the surrounding Qujiang cultural area, it reflects the rich heritage of the Tang Dynasty.

Huaqing Palace Scenic Area

Located at the foot of Mount Li in Xi’an’s Lintong District, Huaqing Palace is a renowned historical site combining imperial gardens, hot spring culture and ancient heritage. Best known for its role as a Tang Dynasty royal retreat, the site features historic hot spring remains, palace-style architecture and landscapes associated with Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei, offering visitors a closer look at the culture and history of the prosperous Tang era.

The existing Xi’an City Wall was largely constructed during the Ming Dynasty and is one of the best-preserved ancient city walls in China. Visitors can walk or cycle along the wall while viewing its gates, watchtowers and moat, with panoramic views that bring together Xi’an’s historic neighbourhoods and modern skyline.

Xi’an Bell Tower

Built in 1384 during the Ming Dynasty, the Bell Tower stands at the intersection of four major streets in the heart of Xi’an. Its traditional timber-and-brick structure and layered roof showcase classic Ming architectural style. Illuminated after dark, it is also one of the city’s most iconic night-time landmarks.

Terracotta Warriors

Part of the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum, the Terracotta Warriors are famous for their vast formations of life-sized clay soldiers and horses. The archaeological remains provide remarkable insight into Qin Dynasty military organization, sculpture and society. The Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor, including the Terracotta Warriors, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987.

Grand Tang Mall

Centred on the culture of the Tang Dynasty, Grand Tang Mall is a lively pedestrian district near the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. Tang-inspired architecture, themed installations, immersive performances, dining and cultural experiences come together throughout the area. After dark, colourful lighting and street performances create one of Xi’an’s most popular night-time experiences.

Muslim Quarter

Located near the Bell and Drum Towers in central Xi’an, the Muslim Quarter is one of the city’s best-known historic neighbourhoods and food destinations. Traditional shops and long-established eateries line its lively streets, offering local favourites such as lamb or beef paomo, roujiamo, liangpi and glutinous rice cake, alongside a vibrant mix of local culture and everyday city life.

Museu de História de Shaanxi

One of Xi’an’s most important cultural landmarks, Shaanxi History Museum houses an extensive collection spanning thousands of years, with particularly notable artifacts from the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties. Bronzes, pottery figures, Tang gold and silverware, murals and other treasures offer a comprehensive view of the development of Shaanxi and ancient Chinese civilization.
