Good Location for Getting Around the San Diego area

This was our second time at the Holiday Inn Express in South San Diego/Chula Vista. We had business in Tijuana. It is a short 10 minutes to the border from this hotel, and about 20 minutes from the San Diego International Airport. Downtown San Diego is nearby, and easy to get to for lots of eating choices and entertainment. We like the Holiday Inn Express hotels for the breakfasts, blackout windows, and usually quiet road noise. There is a bit of noise on the road side for this hotel.

Exiting the hotel during rush hour can be risky. The view is obstructed by shrubs, and there's a sidewalk with heavy foot and vehicle traffic. Exercise caution when pulling out.

For Holiday Inn Express, this location is average. The location and ease of access is great. The room was good although it hadn't been vacuumed before our arrival. On Sunday morning there were so many people in the breakfast room that there was no food available. I visited it several times between 7:30-9am, never was able to get food. Even the coffee and cups ran out. We ended up eating out. I wondered if all those people were even hotel guests, there were just too many of them.

The staff is very professional. The front desk agent, Jonathan, allowed me to check-in early because he had a room available. I felt safe staying at this hotel, and the swimming pool and BBQ area are very convenient. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Great value, great breakfast...
If staying there in the future I would ask for a room on the back side of the hotel as morning traffic was loud
I would also take my breakfast to the room as the only channel on the TV in the eating area appears to be stuck on MSNBC

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. From the staff at the front desk to the people running breakfast and the cleaning crew. We were very happy with the hotel.
