Kalyan Minaret is located in eastern part of Bukhara and the history of its construction referred to the XI century. This monument originally served for the purpose of call for Muslim prayers. However later, this high minaret became an observation post, from which followed the appearance of the enemy and also served as a kind of beacon for trade caravans. During the reign of Bukhara ruler of the Mangits Board it served as a place of public punishment.

Located slightly outside the heart of the Old City, Chor Minor stands peacefully amidst a charming residential neighborhood. The name “Chor Minor” means “Four Minarets,” referring to the four turquoise-domed towers that grace each corner of the building. Each minaret features its own unique shape and decorative style, symbolizing the diversity of the world’s four major religions.

The unique Chor-Bakr Memorial Complex (‘memorial complex of four brothers’) is located at a distance of five kilometers southwest of Bukhara in the village of Sumitan. They began building it during the reign of the Samanids as long ago as the 16th c. It is also called Town of the Dead, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
